    David,
No, and I probably never will be able to, no matter how much Spanish I learn. I should have started at a much younger age for it all to sink in. However, I have managed to drive around the country, ask directions, buy gas and food. What more do I need?

    David,
Thanks. That’s disappointing. The Thursday night games in the second half of the season were shown only on the NFL channel, and this year they are playing even more games on the NFL channel including weekend games, which won’t be shown on the networks or ESPN. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to get interested in the other Futbol.

Those seats sell out very quickly. I believe on Spirit you now pay for seat selection also, $5 for center, $10 for window, and $15 for aisle. Generally Spirit still has better prices than the other airlines. You can fly first class with them for what you’d pay for coach on other airlines. They have these sales about every other month.

Sorry, That post was actually meant to answer costaricabills post, where he said he was trying to decide between pensionado or rentista status. I inadvertantly left off his name.
    My apologies,

If your eligible for pensionado status, why would you want to go with rentista? Pensionados do not have to deposit any money in the bank, and they only have to convert $600.00 dollars to colones each month.

There are several airports in the US that have theft problems by baggage handlers. There just was another bunch that were caught recently, because one of their girlfriends tried to use a laptop that had a tracker program on it. My guess is it probably was stolen in the US. I’ve watched the baggage handlers in CR, when they load or unload the planes, a security guard runs a hand held metal detector over them.

Well David, on a beach, by a waterfall, either one would be romantic and beautiful. There are so many beautiful spots in CR. Get those 5 people to fly to CR to attend your wedding. We here on WLCR would certainly toast the happy couple. Hold onto your dreams, do your homework, you’ll find a way.
    Buena suerte!

It sounds like you have the same dream that all of us on this site have or had, to retire to this beautiful place. There was one hitch that wasn’t mentioned in the previous posts. If you are not married when you apply for residency, Alicia will have to deposit $60,000.00 USD in a Costa Rican bank to meet her residency requirements. She then has to convert $1000.00 monthly into Colones. That money is held for 5 years at a time or until her status changes. A pensionado only requires a guaranteed income such as social security or a pension of $600.00 converted monthly to colones, with no deposit required.
I’m sure you will be able to work everything out, if it’s the right move for you. Best of luck to you both.
    Pura Vida,
    Peg

Dr. Dish has 2.4 meter dishes available. They seem to be changing their name, the web site is now under http://www.perfectodish.com. they have some prices listed on their site.

I never set off airport metal detectors before, but I do now, and have to be patted down each time through. So anythings possible as we get older and more bionic.
