Some of the species flower for only one day, some are extremely tiny, and some are so high in the trees that they are hard to see. Lankaster Gardens has their orchids in natural settings for better pictures as do the other gardens mentioned. Best to start there. Check the Arenal Gardeners Facebook page for a nice picture of a wild orchid just hanging out on one of my trees.

As for your cases, Sweik, an old man with a gun, a child whose parents should have put the gun under lock and key, a frightened 63 yo, all tragic. As to Martin, I have my concerns and would have voted not guilty.

As for me, my friend once put 5 shots into a rapist who followed her home and attacked her before her roommate could come out with the shot gun. Police just poked the body and congratulated her.

Exploring, I liked that “thinned from the herd”. As one of my favorite writers once said, “there are some people who should be shot on sight. The problem is knowing who they are.”

Lankaster Gardens, east of San Jose, was started by a Brit in the 1940-s and is now run by the university. He was an orchid fanatic and the U has preserved the property and orchids.

A “bad guy” is just that. If he can’t find a gun, he will use a knife or his fists. And guns aren’t meant to do harm to anyone unless that person has an evil intent. They are the best defense against the “bad guy”, but you need to be trained in their use, maintenance, and storage.

Is dual citizenship a better choice? Is it a choice at all?

We got our letter in May of ’13 but had applied in 2012. Everything was apostiled at that point. Don’t know why we are “out of date” when friends of ours had paperwork in for 5 years with no problems.

The question is, what kind of ants? Little kitchen ants: boric acid powder mixed with jelly will attract and kill. Fire ants: boiling water down the nest (nests are small). Leaf cutter ants: mix baby powder with ground hot pepper and pour into nest. This takes a lot of treatments as the nest can be 30×30 feet. I like Myrex and Omitox on their paths.

If you renounce, can you still visit the US as a tourist or to see family?

The pool guys at Do It Center near Liberia build gunite pools and they are excellent at it. They will come to your property and give you an estimate. Their pools are top of the line and pricey. An alternative is the fiberglass pools in Orotino – at http://ecopiscinas.net/. They have standard pools in your measurements.

For production of corn you need at least 3 rows about 6 feet long for pollination. Again, this is a bad time of year for sweet corn although the local corn doesn’t mind the rain.

The corn seeds we get here are not “short day” seeds. The reason for sweet corn failure is that it requires 14-16 hours of sunlight a day. The Univ. of Hawaii at Hilo sells the short day seed. Be sure you save seeds from your spaghetti squash. Many people would be interested in having them. And check out the Facebook page “Arenal Gardeners” for tips and answers to questions
