I don’t think Costa Rica is waiting for M. Gibson and all kind of other gold-diggers from the US. On different places on earth we have heard: “Yankee go home” (Vietnam, Irak). Will Costa Rica be the next ?

note: I also met a lot of nice Gringos here in CR.

No no no no……. From the Reserva to the highway it is at least 2 miles. Coming from the Reserva you turn right on the Costanera Highway. Then you make a left turn to the village and beach, another 2 miles. Total not 14 but at least 4 miles (± 2 hours walk).

Artie please don’t lie about the distance. The maps on the website are clear, so anybody can see it is a very long walk (or drive).

The first time you will walk to the Beach Club, but only once, then you will go by car.

The majority of working people in Costa Rica work for a lot less then $ 25,000,– a year.

Let us be glad that specialists like anesthesists are willing to work (!) and not walk around with $$-signs in their eyes.

Affordable health-system: pray to God that you don’t need the anesthesist, once you need him, he will not be there.

There is a lack of medical personnel in Costa Rica, read the article in La Nacion: http://nacion.com/ln_ee/2007/abril/30/pais1079125.html

Instead of discourage you should encourage this man to get a job in this land.

International laws say that the one who brings you to a country (in this case the airline-company) is responsable that you also will leave the country. The airline company is not interested in what you will do, but their duty is to make legitimate that you will go back to your own country. That is why you have to buy the return-ticket. Of course unless you are a citizen of that country.
If you don’t go back, no problem, but it will not be their problem, but yours.
Sometimes airlines don’t let you fly with them with a one-way-ticket because you are a tourist and have to go back to your country. But if you insist, you can sign a letter to wave any liability. Not all airlines do this.

If you buy somthing (tv, car etc.) it is normal that you have some kind of garantee (1-2 years). If you buy land that you have not seen, and if you don’t like it there is a 100% refund, that is a “great marketing-instrument”. A period of 180 days is not unreasonable. A company (bad or good) has to be able to continue its activities and not any day in the future be confronted with buyers who regret the buy and want their money back.

Everybody sometimes bought something that he didn’t like anymore. You want your money back ? Sorry, not possible….
What would happen if we are some day not satisfied with our Fords, Chevrolets or Chryslers ? Return them to the factory ?

If you make a big purchase (car, house, land) read the contract and the small letters. Land in Costa Rica ? First have a look…… ALLWAYS !

Problem with all investments is: greed !

Summertime ? Other countries change the clock one hour to save energy. Why not in Costa Costa while the other surrounding countries do this to save al least some energy……?

By the way a lot birds get killed by the blades. The speed on the end of the blades is very high…. listen to the sound….. moving air.

First apply for rentista, takes 6-12 months, lots of paperwork and fees for your lawyer. Then -one year later- apply for pensionado ? All the paperwork, including from you homecountry, fees for your lawyer etc. etc. again ? Once the paperwork of Rentista is finished, you can start with Pensionado. Better take the first plane to Costa Rica, rent a house, discover this land and enjoy it. Go “on holiday” every 3 months. O dios mio, Migracion…… solo una vez por favor……!!

    Biggdawg,

The story of harlonrichards is more realistic and has more good advices then the story of eficostarica. It seems to me that Stephane is a perpetual tourist. Those people don’t care about a lot of things and think Costa Rica is theirs. Remember: without a visa you are not allowed to work even if you have your own SA…….

In case of Stephane of course I could be wrong.

    Hello Stephane,

Are you suggesting that it is very easy to work in Costa Rica if you open a business, a company (SA)? Is that true ? Are you 100% sure of that ? I think you are promoting the “perpetual tourist”.
Costa Rica is not waiting for that kind of goldseekers.
