Thanks Scott and CR-Finca

Our main problem is to open an bank account- we already established an account in BAC San Jose – but because the fact that almost no Tico guys use this bank – we can’t transfer money to them. That might be easier with an account in Banco Nacional.

Anyone who know a good contact person in Banco National that we might contact

Hey!

We are going to build as well.

We are thinking a small house 120m2 and 30m2 pool
As we live in Europe we will only use the house 3-4 weeks a year – in the meantime we hope to rent it out some weeks (10-15 weeks a year)

I think that a grind-system is great. But I can not find out – if the meter will run backwards until it get to 0.
I mean it we don’t use power for 2 months – will the meter run backwards for 2 months??
Legally you are required to pay his CAJA,INS and yearly aguinaldo which will cover him for any accident occurring on your property.
Since most of it is ‘forest’ you really shouldn’t need have to clear it twice a month, during the drier period.
Suggest you ask the neighbors. We have lots in our neighborhood where the workers come in with their weed whackers, and some do a really good job while some don’t look at what they are cutting…
Thanks. I was told that if we make a contract with him -and do not pay pr hour – we dont have to pay CAJA, INS?

There are lots of websites that offer wisdom on buying a car in Costa Rica. WeLoveCostaRica.com CRLaw.com CVFirm.com and a host of others offer legal and practical advice on this topic.

Just use the “search” feature of the WLCR website to find out all about cars in CR.

My wife and I recently bought a house and car in CR. We had even gone so far as to buy an old 4X4 Toyota to ship here. The Toyota shipment was a great plan, but totally unnecessary. The excessive Import Tax kept my plan from being workable. I found a great old Toyota in my area of Costa Rica and I’ve been very happy with it. There are local Classified Ads, Blogs, and Craig’s List to check. Most of the offerings are legit. Many Expats will warn you to watch out for the Ticos. My experience has cost me thousands of dollars; I’ve been getting screwed by Expats!
If you plan to locate in the Central Valley, take a look in Grecia. The highway is lined with Used Car Dealers. Most offer a 90 day warranty.
Good luck in your adventure!
Thanks!

Is it possible to get see how much we have to pay for insurance and taxes every year?
