Costa Rica Team may have a good chance Friday: German team captain and best player Michael Ballack is insured and can not play in the opening game of the World Soccer Cup.

I rented a 4 wheel drive from “Tricolor” in March for 10 days because a friend recommended them to me. They are good and their prices are within reason. Just make sure you look over the vehicle very carefully and notice every existent dent and scratch on paper and how much gas is in the thank. You really do not need a 4 wheel drive. When we come back in June we do not see reason to rent another 4 wheel drive. Highways are bad but manageable.

Maravilla, let me know if you need a PR man to drum up tourists for your mini animal farm – I need a job when I move down. The way you talk about a mini cow – are you really serious about it? I do have a mini Dachshund who can keep an eye on your mini animals in the night so no one will carry them away in a wheel barrel. I will loan him to you he is only 8 lbs but has a big mouth.

I feel sorry for the little village with the very few foreigners this obnoxious bragging woman wants to move to. I would have taken Susan Anthony any time if she would still be alive!!!

Scott, with you opening a new discussion I may have to revise my earlier opinion and you may be right with a barrel of oil hitting even higher than my 80.00. I just read (4-18 at 8pm est) at “antiwar.com” that Bush indeed will not rule out nuking Iran. Well, folks, we having seen nothing yet. One more reason to speed up our move and say like Martin Luther King, after I saw CR for the first time 4 weeks ago:”I have seen the promised land”

Scott, it may go as high as 80.00 but I do not think that the oil industry will “out price” them self than what is it good for if the economy will come to a stand still. Airline tickets will go up most likely another 20% but travel will continue. Do SUV drivers slow down with $3.00 per gal.? NO! I do not believe that there will be an “intervention” with Iran even a Bush will think twice now after Iraq to start more trouble. Real Estate in CR? Business as usual – only going up.

    To Jasman
On one point you may be right: Some of us gringos thinking of open a B&B and some others want to sell real estate to other gringos and the rest has enough money to buy an expensive home in a gated development. But for most of us who do not have that kind of money to throw around and SS is not enough or still to young to sit in a rocking chair: There are not that many opportunities, as I can see it, in CR. Granted, one can say than stay in the US, but I am for one (and my wife also) are fed up the way things going lately in the US. Nevertheless we are still determined to make this move too. So, with our next visit we are trying to figure out what else besides B&B we can do. If you got a good idea, I am open to suggestions.

We flew with Martin Air from MIA and they charged us 150.00 r.t. for an 8lbs mini Dachshund. He was in a spec. a/c compartment below and upon arrival in SJO just fine. Martin Air is a dutch charter Airline belonging to KLM, fare was 387.00 total. Arrival time was 10.20 pm and we showed our Fl. State Certificate which we got thrum our Vet. indicating all shots, to custom. He kept a copy and we “zipped” right thru! Staid first night in dog friendly “Adventure Inn” about 10 miles towards SJO right of the Highway. No extra charge for dog and this 35 room Inn refunded us the 9.00 taxi fare. Inn is clean and there is an empty lot across street for dog to run.

We flew March 15 with Martin Air and they charged us for a Mini Dachshund (8lbs) 75.00 one way (150.00 r.t.) He was in a spec. A/C compartment below and upon arrival just fine. Continental allows to small dogs in cabin per flight and must fit in small cage under seat. We got a State certificate thrum our vet. Dog must have all shots and paper must be shown to CR custom who will keep a copy.

Man, I am glad I live near Miami! For example: I get on Martin Air on a Wed. or Sat. at 8pm and arrive in SJO at 10 after 10 pm and all for 387.00 round trip.

From MIA to SJO is round trip 387.00 incl. all Taxes and fees except Tax for leaving SJO This is what we paid 3-15-06 and paying again 6-24-06. Arrival time was 22.10 and the $10.00 to the nearby “Adventure Inn” (about 12 miles) next to the PanAm Highway was refunded to us by the Inn. Next morning we rented a small 4×4 from Tricolor Rental which we consider reliable.

Maravilla, I am reading everything you are writing about your new house and it helped me also to come to my senses after reading your last response and and at my next visit at the end of June will concentrate more in central valley. So what if we are not at a beach or see the ocean – it’s only an hours drive. My wife and I will also check out the San Ramon area and maybe I have luck and run into you.
