Just to make it clear, and not let M’s comment be considered, I stand with “How could the world let this happen”.

Still waiting for parable comments. Too bad we got sidetracked by ‘Exodus’ and I think we should ignore him/her altogether.

As for ‘civil educated’ discourse, Maravilla’s nasty comments are not that either.

First: With Charlie Brown, I have to say, “Good grief!”

    A parable:

Two people walk through the museum and grounds of Auschwitz.
One emerges shaken and in tears and wonders aloud: “How could the world let that happen?”
The second emerges grim but pleased and wonders aloud: “Why didn’t they let Hitler finish the job?”

    I know where I stand.

Second: David your history lesson agrees with my understanding of the facts. Thank you. And its not the only instance of monetary based expulsion in European history.
watch these numbers both in population and years

they all belong to Costa Rica

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigenous_peoples_of_Costa_Rica

in 1502 the population of indians was Considered to be 104,000

    by 1550, only 20,000

and a fact remains that they had lived in these lands for over 10,000 YEARS

have you lived 10 years in Costa Rica??
How did we get on this topic? Yes, the native population was decimated by smallpox and other European diseases for which they had no immunity not to mention superior European weapons.

And, in this age of fast communication, how are you able to tell fact from fiction. Who is posting fact and who posting fiction. We get information from the web, from the TV news, from radio, independent sources, more. What is your formula for telling fact from fiction, or worse, propaganda. I would love to hear your suggestions.

During the 1960s, the Soviet Union put out a booklet called, “The Future of Freedom”, claiming that the USSR was a land of greater freedom than the USA. All the ‘freedoms’ in the booklet were “Freedom from” something (from hunger, from homelessness, etc.)

In the USA, was, “Freedom to”. To speak, to own, to do…. Of course, that includes the freedom to fail.

With all the current government assistance, we seem to be falling into the trap of ‘freedom from’ and giving a ‘no thanks’ to individual effort.

    Comments?

Well, they finally mentioned – barely – WWII.

Looking back at Balfour: The original document gave a much larger portion of land to Jews. Then the Brits decided to create Trans-Jordan, which became Jordan, taking away 80% of what had been promised as a Jewish State. The video doesn’t mention that and it must have been a problem.

Also interesting is that the video uses a lot of inflammatory language. Up to 1957 now, and Israelis are still usually called ‘Zionists’.

Working on M’s video and its slow going with this internet trouble.

Interesting though that it jumps right over WWII.

So far, Zionists, that evil, good-for-nothing bunch, bought up land and evicted the tenants living on it (well, they owned it). Then the Brits took Palestine from the Turks during WWI. Using “right of conquest”, which, in world history, is as good as any argument, they issued Balfour.

Hmmm, I guess Maravilla can’t get past personal insults. That certainly doesn’t spur my interest in videos M suggests.

As for watching videos, up here in Arenal internet speed makes that difficult and internet outage (most of Sunday and part of Monday) doesn’t help.

David made excellent points and food for thought.

So, we are staying on topic? No more invective? No more personal insults? That would be a pleasure.

First, have we decided that Israel has the right to exist?

Thanks for the tip on this. Have you contacted the card company and let them know about the bogus charges?

Try contacting the dentist/dental clinic directly. Many of them publish their rates there or will email the rate list.

And, lets see. I am witless, behind the curve, ignorant, uninformed, foolish, misinformed, clueless, jajajaja. And in PMs, M curses at me. What else ya got, Maravilla.

Swimming in Lake Arenal is lovely and we also enjoy our ‘dipping area’ in the Rio Aguacate (a bit chilly though). In general, the Arenal area is delightful, but rainy atm. As to dental work, there is an excellent recommendation on this website.
