You’re half right, Ragged. The weather is pretty near perfect. The house next door? Not so much.

OK, down the street, around the block, whatever works.

For reference, we’re at about 4,100 feet above sea level. We have neither heat nor air conditioning and never use our ceiling fans. Overnight lows occasionally reach the upper 50s but are generally in the 60s. Daytime highs occasionally reach 80 but are generally a few degrees cooler. Our windows are open 24/365.
Actor Mel Gibson has relisted his the private 500-acre beachfront-and-jungle compound property on the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica for $29.8 million.

Rumour has it that the ‘brave hearted’ actor who starred in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, Lethal Weapon amongst many other movies – never could quite work out ‘what women want’ in Costa Rica and was just scared silly about driving in Costa Rica …

Hey, it looks pretty nice… does anyone have Mel’s number?

Will they charge me if I drill air holes in the bottom? I have seen no posts on this.
No, but without some cross ventilation you won’t get enough fresh air. So plan to drill some holes in the sides, too. Then they’ll make you buy the thing and your Costa Rican housing problems will be solved.

The more I think about this the more . . . (oh, never mind).
Can I ship myself by container? It would be much roomier than a plane, and less hassle than driving. If they drop the container at my house for me to load, I can remodel the inside a little and make it comfy. A camping potty, cooler and some ham sandwiches, and I’d be all set.

So THAT’S what sex trafficing is…

I’m from Podunk, IL and I thought sex traffic was what happened when they were showing X-Rated movies at the drive-in and everyone going by on the highway slowed down to watch the dirty parts! DANGEROUS!

Removing a post? I usually take a hi-lift bumper jack and a length of chain wrapped around the base of the post. Hook the end of the chain to the, um,,, OH! You meant something else. Never mind.

My parents taught me how to behave. I wouldn’t have been running around in the middle of the night (let alone in another country!) And when I was 16, I had 1 job during the school year and 2 in the summer. No time to go to Costa Rica. That might sound strict and boring to some, but I still have the same amount of holes in me as I did at 16.
i just heard of two more people i know who are going back to the States after being here for only a year. one person said this culture was just not for them; the other said living here was too difficult. when i asked what was the most difficult part about it they replied “not speaking spanish,” which i quickly pointed out was easily remedied and when i asked why they didn’t take spanish lessons, they said it was too stressful. go figure they were both happy they were renters!!
Wow. I don’t speak Spanish (other than very, very basic) either, but I am starting Rosetta Stone to deal with that. It isn’t free, but it’s cheaper than a flight to CR and I can fit it into MY schedule. And what better way to accelerate learning a language than to LIVE in the middle of it??

I’m a pretty good mechanic, but not because of a book or a tape, but because I never had the money to have other people fix my cars. And I hung around with other broke-@$$ people who all helped each other fix their stuff. We lived in the middle of it and we learned it.

Rosetta Stone is cool, but I figure in CR, I will learn the most from the guy next door or a friendly bartender or local tutor.
