i paid my taxes this year, about a month after the deadline in april, but only paid a $.05 a day penalty. so now the taxes for this year are due when exactly?
marchamo is the price you pay to drive your car – it’s like a registration fee and minimum insurance coverage. i have a 20 year old car and it cost me $130 to register it.
do NOT pay in US$ for anything here. you will get screwed on the exchange rate. Their currency is the Colon. Not US$. of course they are making money; everyone does when you do that.
what i read is that only about 20% had been miscalculated but you know how it is — that’s probably not accurate and they are correcting the problem now, so if you can wait, i would. we have until the end of december to pay.

the secret millionaire concept has always been my motto. flashy wealth makes you a target for all kinds of unscrupulous people who would like to separate you from your assets. and it doesn’t matter where in the world you live. but you are right; wealth gives you those privileges. i guess the trick is to give it all away just before you croak so nobody has to pay taxes!!!
you have to fill out some form and apply for the refund. i’m going to wait until the 11th hour so they get this mess straightened out.

i went to the muni, got a form, filled it out with all the info that was on my planos, gave it to the assessor, and he calculated my new taxes. no increase on the value of my house, just the value of the land which went up 300%, so with the added garbage collection tax, it went from $78 a year to $265 a year. i can live with that because it is fixed for the next 5 years.

And here’s another example of lies told by the media, which most people believed: The Emperor was reported to have died peacefully from respiratory failure. The truth is that he was pretty much beaten to death by the Derg — in fact, he had breaks in nearly every bone in his body, but for years i heard the story of his sad demise from declining health. HA!!!!
