What was happening was that when finished and I hit ‘preview’ to vet my mistakes, the text seeming to ‘fly off the page…’
It did this 2 or 3 times. Then, I made sure to copy what I had written.
BTW, later on, the posts appeared on the forum, where I edited it to say ‘duplicate’
Seems OK now.

I meant to write a minimum of $350 not $250.
My husband maintained our small pool, and so we didn’t pay out that expense, but when you get 5 kids using it regularly and it is located anywhere near trees that loses their leaves, it will require much more upkeep.

No, these were quite short posts, but thanks for your response.
I have noticed in the past, that long posts do require signing back in.

It will cost about $250, minimum to heat and hire someone to clean and maintain a pool. Of course this depends on where and what altitude you live at.
Even in hot Guanacaste, the water cools off and I felt ours was too cool for me.
But, since you were asking previously about ‘Tico style’ homes, a pool is not usually found in one and to build one will not be cheap.

The feria prices DavidCMurray quoted are cheap and sounds like they could be equal to the feria in Liberia so what prices are the ‘people’ that the OP complaining about?
In regards to what davidd posted in regards to CAJA costs for his family, he is very lucky! ARCR has stated that they cannot permit any more new people into their present group plan but will try to get another one running, if CAJA allows it. So, new Pensionados will pay $125 and Rentistas $230 or 12% of their $10000 or $2500 per month that they have used to gain their residency. And the complaining people the OP meant, will have definitely some complaining to do, when they find this out when they apply for CAJA the receive their cedula.

We also have a one-room school house near us, and it too, is on a bus route. No school buses included, though.

They should not have started any residency application based on what ‘we’…those who already lives here … told them but based on their own time and experience tells them by visiting first, for an extended period.

On every CR forum, people state that costs have risen, but on many ‘blogs’ life is wonderful!

So, no, they didn’t do a very thorough investigation.

Most of us that have successfully transported our belongings, hired a reputable mover/broker based in Costa Rica. Then the broker would ‘chose’ reputable companies he knows of, in the originating country.
The easy part is the transportation, and then the hard part begins, as in getting it safely through customs without anything being stolen.
Maybe it is worth contacting a broker who may, for a fee, intercede on your behalf, such as

Just recently on another forum, someone else posted that they had ‘shipped’ 6 boxes and only received 4 and eventually 1 more with the last one, still missing. They thought that the problem was due to the amount of time the boxes were left at customs, since they, the family shipping them ’couldn’t afford to pay the fees/duties'
The duties on used goods are usually quite low.

Unless, once again the rules have changed, you have to be a Permanent resident.

Although working online, you probably know that you are required to leave every 90 days to renew your visa or apply for residency.
Also you now need to leave every 90 days to ‘reset your original driving license’ until you have Residency/cedula.
Plus establishing a bank account is now more difficult without residency.
