the above posts diagram the hope and unfortunately the reality.
there is no middle ground here.
history will repeat itself, as it has again and again..
Actually I think the middle ground exists in realizing that those we are electing to congress are failing us badly. It isn’t a matter of left or right, it’s all of them.

The right refuses to raise taxes and the left objects to budget cuts when the vast majority of Americans realize that both have to be done.

We are electing economic and historical illiterates who have no ability to view the future consequences of their actions.
As a conservative leaner, I obviously agree with everything you have to say, Waggoner, including the thought that the Liberal’s solution is raising taxes. I appreciate that you just stated the facts, thus avoiding any contention.
But I just can’t let that Liberal position hang out there. History has established that the Feds demand for more dollars is insatiable. Whatever they ask for, we give them and then they proceed to spend 40% more. As you suggest, with their investments, they have abandoned every financial principle known to man. Do Liberals really trust the Feds will do the right thing if you give them more money? I say treat the “economic and historical Illiterates” like a homebound teenager. When they ask for a handout. Make them live within their means. . .until they show some good judgement.
Sorry;

but liberals did not start 2 wars without thinking on how to pay for them (4 trillion $$) and still running the “TAB”.

AND the Wall ST. corporations are giving the GOP a 3 to 1 contribution against that liberal, socialist President

GOT A CLUE?? on WHY!!!

Do you know how much STOCK, Dick Chaney had in Halliburton in 2001 and what it was worth compared to today??

there are white, grey and black information

white is the truth
grey is half truths and half lies
black is ALL LIES

pick your poison

Thanks, Scott, for allowing this unrelated Tika discussion to unfold. Perhaps, these smaller, discussion forums will pave the way for amiably finding resolution to our political polarization. . .something that has not occured with our politically constipated Congress.

Now, on with the topic at hand. . .
The prevailing view does seem to be that the bankers have raped the world. My contention is that the Federal Government raped the world by writing the rules for the raping; starting with legislation promoted by Clinton/Reno/Dodd and Frank who required the banks to lend money to the unemployed and with no down payment. Yup, there’s those inept, dabbling politicians again! They then took credit for the booming housing market, rode the artificial wave of home appreciation. and they never got smarter through several administrations.

The banks reaction, when everything imploded, was to not get stuck with The Old Maid card and they tried to pass it off. When they got caught, the Feds had to launch another brainless $800 Billion program to use our money to pay off SOME of the banks to KEEP the Old Maid Card along with another brainless program called Keeping Homes Affordable to keep those in their homes that still hadn’t made a payment and were without jobs or down payments.

The Federal Reserve, Dodd and Frank were sitting at the card table all along and still haven’t admitted that this wasn’t Old Maid but All-In High Stakes Poker.

This March on Wall Street is politically motivated, misdirected madness with Unions taking up the cause. We know the source of the problem. Nothing will change until they start marching in DC with a group that has their sights on The the Federal Government as being The Problem: That is the only way you will see some inept politicians evicted and greedy Bankers prosecuted.

these problems were borne out of the Reagan era when banking was deregulated. there is nothing misdirected about this cause. I think some of the corrupt bankers in Iceland (who caused the entire country to collapse financially) did actually go to prison. Which is where Greenspan,Paulson, and the GoldmanSachs, Lehman Bros crew belong. There is a great documentary on this mess called Meltdown. you can find it on http://www.topdocumentaryfilms.com — it’s a pretty good overview of how this horror started, who started it, and how it affected the whole world. And Bogino — just because you are behind the curve on the info doesn’t mean the rest of us are loonies — au contraire. The gov’t is counting on people such as yourself to be uninformed and to diss the rest of us who spend a great portion of our time studying history, the financial sector, and trying to piece the puzzle together. But please, don’t get informed — knowledge is dangerous.

Well said, Maravilla! Being un/mis-informed is exactly how corrupt politicians continue to get relelected. . .too many people just wrongly assume that our elected officials will do the right thing. . .

But. . .taken back far enough, the Mortgage Crisis actually started with Jimmy Carter. That’s when the feds first stepped in and began backing mortgages.

Then Reagan did his part by signing off on more deregulation while cooperating with a Liberal House.

As I said before, it was Bill Clinton, also working with a Liberal dominated house, along with Criss Dodd and Barney Frank’s committee, that deregulated the Community Reinvestment Act in 1995, and that really started a blowup in the mortgage crisis.

This pressured lenders to give home loans to unqualified people, under the name of “Affordable Housing” or else get a visit from the ACLU and Federal authorites.

All politicians are complicit and allowed the greed to happen under their laws and watch. Then they actually perpetuated the greed by providing a Bonus payment of $800 Billion. I say the Feds were dealing drug money. . .no wonder the banks got addicted. . .

So why are we persecuting the user instead of the seller?

Yes, the current worldwide protests are misdirected. . . Until we start taking away the “Drug” Money from the United States Congress, have international protests, including Icelanders, focused in Congresses backyards, they will continue to hatch more absurd regulations to further skew us from a competitive, free market system and drag the world down with us.

interestingly;

you are posting in a forum that contributes to a SOCIALIST goverment (CR) with (universal) health care and pensions plans

would you care to compare CR to the USA (Countries)??

or Utah and San Jose (cities)

what about the UK, are they also ignorant?? Italy, Greece, Japan, Brazil, etc.
.
Occupy Wall St. is a global insurection against the GREED of corporations that have strangled the middle class blaming the UNIONS.

get your facts right

my father worked ………. a job with union protection and raised 4 kids, all went to college

I raised 3 and all went to college also, thanks to a UNION job

TERRYS,

You are so far off the mark that you can’t see that you are being played like a violin. This argument between left and right, progressives and conservatives, has been going on for decades. It is a false paradigm you have been brainwashed into so that your energies will be distracted from and unfocused on the real purps.

At the very least, you should wonder why the dollars in your pocket are worth 95% less than they were 100 years ago, before your central banker friends stole the power to create our money out of thin air.

Both democrats and republicans do the bidding of the Fed. Neither party has opposed this banker take over of our society. The last real president we had was Kennedy. He made a valiant effort to kill the Fed. They got him first and with that violent act, a powerful message was sent to all the following presidents from BOTH parties.

The world protesters are not misdirected, you are.

i think it was john d. rockefeller who said of the Fed: “If the people knew what we were doing there would be a revolution.” well, the revolution is here. to understand how twisted and demented the premise of the Fed really is (no, it is NOT a federal bank — it is a PRIVATE bank) please read The Creature from Jekyll Island — it will set you straight by about page 20 of the 800 pages of lies, corruption, and monetary manipulation of the banking system using fiat money. if you are a smart person, you will want to take every dollar you have out of the banking system and stash it in your mattress.

Nostradamus thrived on people’s fears and insecurities. He would have had a field day today.

The only one in charge of “my dough” is ME. All this GARBAGE about the BIG BAD Capitalist..Bankers…Plutocrats….BLAH…BLAH…BLAH…has been around for decades. Well guess what: The world is STILL here and those of us that are fortunate enough to live in a FREE society are still here…still alive. Sure we’re going through some hiccups right now but as we’ve done in the past…we will overcome the current problems and life will get better and go on. JESUS CHRIST!! Think Positive why don’t you.

well, here is your misconception — this is not a free society, and if you are relying on any bank, credit card, or other financial institution, you are not free, nor are you in control of your money, which is really little more than a ledger entry. the financial system has imploded. whether i think positively or not matters not one whit in the face of the global economic crisis. can you tell me why the riots started in Egypt? it was over food. when people cannot buy food, or get it at fair price, or do not have money to buy the food at the inflated price, you are going to have a revolution. remember germany? do you study history? do you even have a clue that this mess is just the beginning? could you live off the grid? if you can’t, you are enslaved. get back to me in a year when the world is one the brink of complete chaos. are you watching the protests going on all over the GLOBE? do you even understand what the US bankers really did? i suspect not. poor you. please get a clue before it’s too late.

Maravilla, you are mirroring my thoughts and attitudes exactly. It is encouraging to come across people who arrive at the same conclusions as I do.

But it’s funny how some people can have the same exposure to these world events and come away with such silly notions as Bogino’s. At some point, you have to realize that there is no amount of valid information you can offer which will effect a change in those who simply refuse to use the right hemisphere of their brains. They will stubbornly keep their notions and never let facts and truth change their minds. We should make our way quickly to the life rafts and leave the Titanic to those who cannot be convinced of the impending disaster.

hey, sprite, i have always agreed with you and have always been amused at the people who think they have a handle on the world’s crises and who then call you and me conspiracy nuts, etc. if people would just stop believing what they hear and see on MSM, and started reading independent news, they might actually be able to grasp the severity of the situation. i saw this coming 30 years ago, bought property in mexico 20 years ago, and started planning the escape route. had mexico not gotten so dangerous, i would’ve moved there back in 96. one only has to watch the trends to see what is coming down the pipeline, assuming you’re awake enough to do that!!! jeje
