ParticipantAnother comment, Scott, would be why you would want to include ‘a facebook’ style member section?
If someone wishes to partake in this type of ‘socialization, could they not just add that info., via a PM?costaricafinca
ParticipantThe ‘Lions Share Bodegas’ is located just outside of Naranjo, As far as I know it is still in business, but whether or not they store vehicles, I don’t know.

ParticipantReputable, maybe. When we renewed last week, CAJA wasn’t mentioned
costaricafinca
ParticipantTheir address is arcr.net
ARCR = Association of Residents of Costa Rica
One cannot apply for affiliation with CAJA until one has gained legal residency. Although, in some cases, people have obtained it, once they have received a ‘folio number’. But don’t count on being able to do so.costaricafinca
ParticipantScott, I realize that you have put money into keeping this site going, but feel that there are other ‘free sites’ out there. I am not saying they are any better or worse than yours, only different.
Personally, I have only watched two videos. And since I am already here, most of what is posted, is ‘old news’ or just a continual repetition of previously asked questions, so to speak, designed for the potential ‘new comer’ to Costa Rica.
I just add my 10 cents worth, to help provide people with information I have learned in my nine years of living here.Good luck with your proposed changes

ParticipantSorry to read that it will soon be a ‘subscription site’

ParticipantAt the Canadian Club ‘Canada Day’ fiesta, there was a couple of teens from the ‘Dance Workshop’ in Rorhmoser who performed the Tango. Maybe they have other classes there.

ParticipantSome questions would be:
Did you use a ‘reputable’ lawyer?
One that was recommended by others, such as on this or other popular forums frequented by potential or those ex-pats already here?
Did you ‘knowingly’ use the lawyer that the ‘seller’ or ‘developer’ also used?
Have you already discussed the possibility of suing with your lawyer?
With the ‘developer’ concerned?
Are there other ‘dissatisfied’ potential/property owners involved?
If so, do you think they would also ‘contemplate’ suing this developer?
Was this a high profile ‘Gringo’ developer that advertises on websites that specifically targets English speaking people?DAVIDCMURRAY, I don’t understand what you wrote “I wonder if, at this point, paying off the obligation might not just be throwing good money after bad” since “sunnysadie” has stated that “…the remainder of the payment is due the end of the month and I have no intention of making it.” Do you advise her just to let ‘matters drop’?
Also, has any other forum member came across this statement/rule that say “…contracts here are only valid if written in Spanish”?
When we purchased our first property here, the ‘agent’ told us “…that there was indeed power to the land”, only to find out later that this was false. And that it would cost us many thousands of dollars to get it, if indeed it was even proved possible.
Good luck and am sorry that someone else has been ‘ripped off’ by a smoother talker.
costaricafinca
ParticipantOf course there is! You will need Spanish though.

Participantgrb1063, what benefit would a S.A. have been to ‘sunnysadie’ in this scenario?

ParticipantDavid, I didn’t ‘hear’ anything.
We were not asked for anything, other than the $67 each for a 2 year renewal.costaricafinca
ParticipantWe went to the BCR last week for our residency renewal. They didn’t look/ask for any paperwork or receipts at all!
costaricafinca
ParticipantYes, you can apply now. Realize though that you are expected to live in CR for 4 months per year to sustain this residency.

ParticipantMost banks will require paperwork that includes a mailing address, ie, a bill from ICE, etc. You will also need to show your passport.

ParticipantThere is a winery in La Garita. And they use there own grapes. There is also another facility in Belen.
We are growing grapes in Guanacaste, although still in the experimental stage. We presently make fruit wines, but not for resale, as yet. -
