Having lived here now, for over 9 years, I understand when one says ’that they feel Costa Rica calls them’. And with the cost of living that has risenall over the world don’t expect to live like they used to say ”…in Costa Rica for $600 per month”.
It won’t happen.
For those still holding back before taking this move, consider the new requirements that will take place on March 1st this year.
I bet, that many of you are not even aware of these new financial changes. And how are you going to support yourselves, unless money is not one of your concerns? Especially if you have children that need to be schooled, because you will most likely decide to use private schools and they are not cheap.
One of the most common reasons for someone to return ‘home’, is ‘missing family’ so if you are constantly visiting or phoning family members, please take this into consideration.
Come for an extended trip, and do not purchased the first home you look at in an area that you have no idea what it is really like to live there, because it has a view to die for. There will be another…and another..and another.

Although unfortunately not a pool owner, the disparity could be if the pool is heated or not.
Obviously at the beach the air is warmer but many have pools at higher altitudes and are cool….

Yes, everyone I know that visited with a large zoom lens stopped for coffee and a visit…
I prefer to view our 11 species that we host throughout the year ’au natural' in the garden, but when on a short visit, this is the place where you know you will see many species.

With a name like ‘hummer’ we must be related…
I have only heard a few reports, but they were all positive.
And if you are indeed a fellow hummer lover, this is where you should still be able to view these gems, quite easily.

We had a window rep. here yesterday and we were discussing the benefits of these ‘films’.
Just be sure that the windows are not easily ’jimmied' or you are defeating your objective…

No heart burn, just anxiety!
Have read recently the antacids like Tums are now considered a no-no, as it depletes the calcium…

John, I knew you were going to say that, 😆 although I probably wouldn’t have taken anything, but I admit I asked!
Would the Tums have been OK?

We purchased 5 ‘kits’, (I think from Pequeno Mundo) 2 for our vehicles, 2 for our ATV’s and 1 for a workers first-aid box which we always provide anyone doing any type of construction. Possibly contents may vary depending on what kit was purchased, but we were pleasantly surprised with the contents.
Small first aid pamphlet,
3, 4×4″ sterilized pads for compression
2 Alcohol prep pads
Band aids
Scissors… descent ones at that!
Cotton wool
Q-tips
Soap,
Plastic gloves
Sling
Bandage
Small roll of tape
Tongue depressors, which can be used for a short splint.
Adding a few other items will make this kit a good thing to have just in case.

I know I paid more in Canada, for a lot less.

After our ATV accident, while I was lying in the road waiting for an ambulance I asked some of the others around me if they had any pain pills and all someone had was ’Tums'

In response to your quote Lavender,”The best part – great dental, health care for $40/month”. Have you actually used this service? While this price is if you go with the group rate at ARCR, is very good, you will like most others here, fork out more $$$$’s to use private services. Yes, the cost is still much lower than in the USA, but be prepared to pay. Or wait……
For emergency treatment such as a heart attack or accident, it is invaluable, but for cancer, and other diseases or ailments which require fast action, you are on your own.

No, I didn’t mean that!
The builders all said, that the wind would find the gaps, which would enlarge with time, cracking any finish on the interior wall finishes.

Another big consideration is your location. Shipping costs plus equipment to put the walls of a prefabricated home in place will obviously raise the costs considerably.

It definitely would make me think about where I would avoid, at all costs.
