BN is a state run bank that should have English speaking personnel to help you. Take a translator or a trusted Tico friend with you. Remember, the banks can go under. I was in C.R. when Banco Anglo went under and it was not a pretty sight. Also, if you don’t understand the colones system, you should not invest in it. The ‘tipo de cambio’ changes daily and you should know how, if at all, that affects the end result(interest) of your CD. Each bank has its own politics re: CD’s. Depending what you want the money for, you might consider the Bolsa de Valores which is much more regulated and there are various options with them. They have numerous English speaking personnel and are well informed. I haven’t invested with them lately but have in the past with excellent service and attention. They are located downtown San Jose(sorry don’t have the address.Remember any investment is risky and as someone mentioned, in this environment, safety should be #1 goal for where you park your cash. Good Luck!

    Hi Scott!
Thank you for having this site-it is truly admirable that you don’t accept advertising. I have not read your book, however, I would recommend that you either put it in a pdf format or consider an e-book and charge for it accordingly, to go green. Then you can get all the wonderful color photos, maps, etc. for a fraction of what print would cost. I believe in no time it would pay for itself and then some. The rest of the newsletter is wonderful-keep up the good work!
    Kind regards,
    Lynette

This is DEFINITELY a scam outfit. About 1 1/2 yrs ago I contacted them about the property near Quepos-the 1st young woman could not tell me where it was located, even though I told her I knew the area well and could find it without problems-she had someone else call me and he also would not give me specifics either. When he pressured me for a deposit- I asked him how could he be asking for a deposit for property-sight unseen, without giving all details? He pressured me further, asking if I had the money TODAY to go forward. I then said to him, this sounds fishy and maybe even illegal to pressure someone like this-he then hung up!Scott-light bulbs should be bursting-Open your eyes folks!
