I’ve had Ooma for about a year. I love it too. If you use the Ooma voicemail, it’s great but it doesn’t work well with a lot of traditional answering machines.
In the states, I pay $4.83/month which is the mandated taxes and fees.
It’s a great option for a wired phone.
Before using your phone(s) in Costa Rica, You will need to enable both voice and data roaming.
Once roaming is enabled and your phone(s) detect the Telefonica/Movistar network in CR, you can select it’s network as your provider.
Detailed instructions are available on Sprint’s website for your particular phone model.
$40 for 2 lines is pretty good. I assume that you and your wife are sharing a certain amount of data. Do you know how much?
The FCC adopted number portability rules in the Spring of 2010 which not only cemented your ability to carry your number from provider to provider but also streamlined the process.
I recommend that you look at Sprint’s Open World plan. It’s a free add-on … so the price is right. It comes with a gb of data per month in CR. Unlimited talk/text.
If you want a CR number, then just use a service that give you a number and then ports (forwards) it to your other phone number.
The cash requirement s the same for a single or married couple …

OK … I’m in …. but you have to realize that we’re not going to agree on everything. I know that you’re an Ardbeg fan … and although I have the greatest respect for Islay (and Ardbeg’s notable marketing campaign)… I’m a Bowman 25y fan through and through … the only “committees” that matter to me are found in clusters on my tongue …
Given that we are both rational adults … I don’t think that these differences are something that we can’t work through given a couple of glasses … a bucket of ice … and two Nicaraguan hammocks …

I understand your reasoning, but you have to understand that these assemblies were permitted. Curfews were not imposed. Rights to peaceful assembly weren’t suspended. Martial law was not declared.
Did you know that Posse Comitatus only applies to the Army and Air Force ? It does not apply to:
The National Guard
The Air National Guard
The US Navy
The US Marine Corps
The US Coast Guard
… and the reserve branches of the above …
etc.Unless they are starving to death, the lemmings will stay home if they are told to do so. Those who do venture out will quickly be made examples of. Yes, there is safety in numbers but the numbers just won’t be there. Give the lemmings a bit of food, and an internet connection whose content is govt controlled/censored and they will happily comply. Any that do have a bit of guts will have no reason to be non-compliant as the news will tell them that everything is peachy and that things will be back to normal very soon.
What you have been witnessing is “reactions”. The govt will simply deny access to those things/news that provoke reaction.
As disheartening as it is, I truly believe that you grossly overestimate the current population of the US and grossly underestimate how prepared the govt is to control access to information and thereby the resultant behavior.

Do you know what SSRIs are ? They are Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors. They are a class of medication that is everything from antidepressants like Prozac or Zoloft … to insomina medication like Ambien or Lunesta … to smoking cessation aids like Chantix … to ADD medication like Ritalin and Wellbutrin …and the list doesn’t stop there … it goes on and on and on …
As I’m sure that you know, serotonin is one of the chemicals in your brain that dictates mood/behavior. All of these drugs carry the same warning … “People who have taken XXXXXX or have recently stopped taking XXXXXX have exhibited changes in mood or behavior and/or suicidal thoughts or actions.” I’m sure that you hear this on your TV in the States dozens of times a day. So, tell me, how many news stories have you heard that attributed someone’s outlandish behavior to these drugs? How many suicides have you read about attributed to these drugs ? I’m guessing EXACTLY ZERO ! How many of the mass shooters in the US have been taking these drugs ? Would it surprise you to find out that the answer is “nearly every one of them”? When a young man takes an assault rifle and kills two dozen first graders and then himself … is that a change in mood or behavior … or is that suicidal thoughts or actions ? Was the suicide corollary to the homicides … or were the homicides corollary to the suicide ?
When a Germanwings co-pilot locks the pilot out of the cockpit and pushes the nose over into the French Alps … taking 149 other people with him … is that suicidal thoughts or actions ?
Now, I’m sure that you’re thinking to yourself … This can’t be true … I haven’t heard about this on TV. Right! You haven’t heard about it on the TV stations that are paid tens of millions of dollars per day to advertise these drugs. You haven’t read about it in magazines that have a dozen full page ads for these drugs in every issue. You haven’t read about it in the newspapers that have a half dozen half-page ads for these drugs daily. So, I guess these pharmaceutical companies are just spending a shitpot of money warning us about something that never happens … right ?? Yeah ! … we’ll go with that …
But, can’t you believe what the Surgeon General or authorities at the FDA tell you ? Sure you can … these people aren’t looking to land a cushy job with a pharma company as soon as they retire from public service … now are they ?
You want honesty about these drugs then look to the Chief Aeromedical Examiner of the FAA. He doesn’t have a cushy job waiting for him. He has ONE job … to insure flight safety … and he takes these drugs VERY seriously! Of the dozens of different types of these SSRIs, there are about four that you can take and still hold an FAA medical. And even then, you have to be at full dosage for one year and have multiple mental and physical health evaluations before you’ll be cleared if you are a regular user.
These drugs are psychotropic and incredibly dependency-building …
But … we don’t hear that … because we don’t need to know that …

Germany taught us all a bit about repaying debt post WWI. When your debt is denominated in a currency that you control, you are never any farther away from being “debt-free” than a couple of drums of ink and a truckload of paper.The same is true for the United States. Have you ever heard of the Bretton Woods Conference ?
During the first 3 weeks of July, 1944, when it had become obvious that the Allies would eventually prevail, 730 delegates from 44 Allied nations met at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire to lay out the course forward. Fourteen men sitting around a round table in the Gold Room pretty much determined the future of the planet. The United States had bailed out Europe (beginning with the Lend-Lease Act as Britain came very close to falling in the Fall of 1940 with an exhausted RAF and a naval blockade by German U-boats) and now it was time to pay the piper. The pound sterling had stood as the world’s reserve currency for 200 years, but that was about to change. With the US Dollar being the “new” world reserve currency, that allowed the US to perpetrate all kinds of naughty things … not the least of which being the ability to export inflation.
If the Federal Reserve can create $3.5 trillion out of thin air to buy US debt at inflated prices … and everyone STILL flocks to the USD … is there anything to prevent them from just printing up $18 trillion and retiring the debt ? This game that governments play by holding each other’s debt as a means of currency manipulation is just another shell game. It only works as long as people find value in the currency … as long as they are willing to trade goods and/or services for worthless pieces of paper.
As far as the disappearing middle class goes …
Most of those jobs that were defined as middle class jobs have been exported or replaced with automation. They were predominantly production line jobs. You can pass a $15 minimum wage but very few are going to get it. A fast food restaurant will have one person working there stocking bins for robots. You’ll order and pay on your phone and the robots will do nearly everything else. The technology is already available. It is just marginally feasible with the minimum wage at $7.25/hour. It’s a no-brainer at $15/hour.Artificial intelligence can already replace a person with a 100 IQ and that level is expected to increase by 2%/year. So, nine years from now, it will be able to replace a person with a 120 IQ. That doesn’t leave a lot of employed folks.
Autonomous vehicles puts every truck driver, taxi driver, chauffeur, etc out of work. Unskilled labor already faces a bleak enough future without them doing anything to accelerate their own demise.

Though there are elements of Trump that I find appealing, he is fighting an uphill battle on several fronts.
The same “brashness” that may give world leaders a moment of pause … i.e. What is that crazy SOB going to do if I do this ? … also makes sane individuals wonder just how much of the B/S he actually believes.
The stuff that makes good movies, in reality, makes dead soldiers. In the real world, Rambo is laying dead on the ground about five minutes into any one of his movies. And guys that charge machine gun nests don’t live to win Congressional Medals of Honor.
The United States, like most of the developed world, is facing a huge demographic shift. I have long felt that 2016 is the last election cycle that it is even mathematically possible for a conservative to win the presidency. When I first started following politics in 1980, states like Montana, Alaska, the Dakotas, etc didn’t just go for the conservative candidate. They went for the conservative candidate 80% to 20%. Today, in those same places, a conservative candidate is lucky to squeak out a 5 point lead.
So, looking forward, if the winning candidate is to be from the Democratic pool, what does it say about this country that a card-carrying socialist nearly won the nomination ? Young people are waiting longer to have babies, and having fewer babies, if they even choose to reproduce at all. Leaders see this and feel that immigration is the only hope to keep the machine fed. So, they embrace it … even to the detriment of all else.
Did you know that about 38% of all births in the US are the result of an unintended pregnancy ? And that that is only about a 2% improvement over 1970 ? Now, what if a pharma company comes up with a new generation of birth control … one that is not rendered ineffective by things like antibiotics. If that unintended pregnancy rate goes to near 0%, the births per mother rate instantly falls to around 1.2 and that will take down the developed world in just one generation. Even now, what is affectionately called the FSA, is the only growing segment of the population. Those that work and save and pay more in than they take out are solidly on the road to extinction.
This year, each side will spend in excess of $100 million to determine who will be the next captain of the Titanic.
But, don’t view it as being anything more than that.
The last guy to get into the lifeboat gets exactly the same ride as the first. The guy behind him is seriously screwed !

An interesting question … though, in the end, a purely academic one.
Will our sons and daughters have the stomachs to fire on their friends, neighbors and parents? Will those friends, neighbors, and parents have the stomach to fire upon them ?
You see, there will be few, if any, shots fired. The lemmings will do as they are told.
I think that even Scott would agree that the United States of America was an incredible story. With all of the thousands of years of history in Europe & Asia, how in the hell did a ragtag bunch of rejects, retards, & refugees rise to be the world’s preeminent superpower in just about 160 years ?
Well, in truth, it was due to the incredible, and unconstrained, ambition of just a small handful of men. Men like John Rockefeller, Cornelius Vanderbilt, Andrew Carnegie, J P Morgan, and, believe it or not, not unlike William Walker.
Walker’s downfall wasn’t that he underestimated the formidable military might of Guatemala and Costa Rica … or that he had no knowledge of their “secret weapon” (aka drummer boys). It was that he made the mistake of screwing with Vanderbilt’s money and that is likely the [B]ONLY[/B] reason that the capital of Costa Rica is not Walkertown.
The first paragraph of the US Declaration of Independence sounds like some really noble crap … but you need only read a few more sentences to find that it was always about the money. The “revolution” was led by some of the wealthiest people in the land who had grown weary of working for the benefit of others. And, if there is to be another revolution, it will have to be won, not with guns and bullets, but by denying the powers that be, the efforts that sustain them. You win by sitting down. You win by refusing to continue to feed those that would do you harm and/or control you.
But, there is the rub. We don’t live in the same country as our founding fathers. We are no longer a people willing to give up all that we have because that is what it will take to be victorious in the end. We live among those so self-absorbed and consumed with greed and their own self-interests that they wouldn’t dream of risking the loss of even one of their “bobbles” by acting out of turn.
What was once lauded as the “American Spirit” has been dead and buried for years. All that is left is the lemmings … running headlong toward the cliff … not wanting to be bothered with,or concerned about, what awaits them tomorrow … just as long as you let them play Pokemon Go today …
Not unlike children, you can’t want it for them … they have to want it for themselves.
You can save the ones that you can … but you have to learn to let the rest go …
