This has worked for quite some time but the immigration authorities are talking about preventing this in the future. Once there is any “concrete” news, we’ll certainly comment on that …

If you are planning on living here, I would strongly encourage you to seek professional advice and apply for the approriate legal status rather than try and live under a ‘tourist’ visa which WILL be changed at some stage.

    Scott

PS. And if I’m not mistaken, that guy is BREAKING THE LAW by running a hotel and being here on a tourist visa.

There are two coasts in Costa Rica, the Pacific and the Caribbean so there’s a lot of ocean front property for sale.

For the most part, the prices on the Pacific are significantly higher than the the Caribbean but what is the best area for YOU really depends on YOUR lifestyle rather than where you can find suitable land.

For example your healthcare requirements: For most retired people, there is always a possibility of some health issues in the future and there are no comprehensive, first-class medical facilities on either coast…

All the top-notch medical professionals and surgeons are in an around San Jose.

If you lived in the Central Valley area (in and around San Jose) you would feel good knowing you are close to the best healthcare facilities not just in Costa Rica, but in the entire Central American region.

This is a discussion forum and not a place for you or anyone else to try and sell your Costa Rica real estate – the website you listed (before I deleted it) is obviously a real estate brokerage site.

If you don’t in fact have a real estate agent already (and it would appear that you do), and would like me to recommend a trusted professional to help you sell your property (although I write extensively about real estate – I do NOT sell real estate personally) then please contact me

    Best wishes

Sounds like a good idea. Just got off the phone with the director of the project in question. He sent, with no hesitation, me an e-mail copy of the title to the land, so I guess the next step would be to contact your attorney friend? Is there any way to pay someone to go look at the property?

A question for all of you…

With so much ‘confusion’ around about some Costa Rica real estate developers, I am seriously thinking about building a whole new section of this site to feature experienced, proven real estate developers in Costa Rica. Developers that I and my attorneys will personally check out to verify that everything is legit’…

What do you think of that idea?

Just for the record – I may be wrong but I don’t remember anybody calling this project a scam – I certainly have not – We are simply trying to encourage people to ask questions and do their homework.

As noted in the forum on numerous occasions, I sincerely hope this project is a roaring success and everybody is delighted with the land that they have purchased.

Please share with us – What did you pay for the land that you did buy? What are the prices now?

Take a look at my friend and attorney Jose Rafael Fernandez – Costa Rica Title Search for US$99

He’s making no money on the deal but, he is hoping that after the title search that maybe you will work with hgim to form your corporation if needed and other Costa Rica legal matters

Greetings, I have just returned from Costa Rica, and ,yes I am an investor. I have purchased 2 parcels of the newer project called Ocean Point, above Miramar, and it is stunningly beautifull. One parcel is 18000 m2 and the other 13000 plus. I have toured the new offices in santa ana,did all my due dilligence and I am satisfied at this point. Time will tell. I also have met several scam artists here and in Costa Rica, and I have to tell you that this does not feel like it at all.Next year this time the roads and infra structure should be complete and the people that had enough faith in the project will be in the position to start construction or list the lots for sale at a considerable profit. and by the way, I do not work for the company, nor do I get compensated for this writing!!!!! I would also encourage any one who feels that this is a scam, will have enough integrity to come back later and admit that they were wrong. Syd Mulder, Ocracoke NC.

I would have thought it depends on the contract.

DISCLAIMER – I am not an attorney and my first question would have to be – What did your attorney say or, did you not have one?
