We love Costa Rica…, why?

[custom_script adID=149]

Many reasons… one is because the ‘everyday’ experience of living here is more like a fun adventure than our lives back home in Canada.

Even simple things like eating at a rustic restaurant where you can catch your own fish for supper, or discovering a new fruit or food that you’ve never tried before…, normal, regular simple things that are in abundance in Costa Rica.

Our life in Canada is like most — very busy with work and responsibilities and stress from being on society’s ‘fast track.’

When we come to Costa Rica, it is so enjoyable to just be able to take it easy and relax in the beautiful scenery and weather and recharge our batteries. There are times that we’ve arrived here, sick from overwork and stress and our immune system was unable to challenge the aches and pains we felt throughout our bodies.

Having a home in such a beautiful setting, here at Altos de Antigua in Puriscal where there is an abundance of home grown food, moisture filled air, fresh spring water and happy neighbours, has been healing for us.. and we are certain that it has added years to our bottom line.

The more we’ve come and experienced this, the more difficult it is to go back home and get back on the fast track. Our perspective of what is important in life is the lifestyle that is ‘normal’ here in Costa Rica.

We love Canada too, our family and friends are there and we feel lucky to be able to share our Costa Rican experiences with many of them too. Having what is currently our ‘part-time’ home in Costa Rica has allowed us to make friends and have another ‘Costa Rican’ family through our relationships with our fellow homeowners and some of the local people that we have made good friends with here as well.

The more we come to Costa Rica… the more we NEED to come to Costa Rica.

Many of the owners here at Altos de Antigua in Puriscal are Canadian as they found out about his place through word of mouth, from other Canadian owners such as ourselves. We are also happy to share our community with owners from the United States and Europe that have become part of our new Costa Rican family too.

Living and being here in Costa Rica has become our dream retirement lifestyle and as it gets closer to reality with each visit here, we can’t feel anything other than blessed.

Pura Vida!

“We chose Costa Rica due to the climate and the stability of the government. We chose Altos de Antigua in Puriscal because of the people in the community and the stunning countryside. It’s a real tranquil place.” Chris and Janice Elmquist. From Calgary, AB Canada.

“We fell in love with Altos de Antigua the first time we saw it. High in the mountains gives great views and wonderful weather all year round. There is a fine balance between secluded paradise and within a short drive, access to all amenities you could possibly want.” Denise and Dean Jones. From Calgary, AB Canada.

“We chose this area because the climate is moderate. Warm throughout the day yet cool enough to sleep at night without air-conditioning. Altos de Antigua is also close enough to the ocean for day trips. We particularly enjoy the rural setting where there is limited traffic and noise allowing us to view the vast amounts of birds.

We are always amazed at the prolific vegetation there, things grow very quickly and the possibilities are unlimited as to what you could produce in a very short time. But our number one reason for buying property in Altos de Antigua is our confidence in the developers.” Jack and Mary Baines. From Calgary, AB Canada.

“It had been always our dream to live in Costa Rica. In our youth we had visited Costa Rica and fell in love with its lush, serene beauty and we were determined to return one day. When we came across Altos de Antigua, we were immediately drawn to this secluded haven, colonial styled houses, and breathtaking views of the mountainous valley.

Mornings are spent sitting on our terrace with our coffee, waking up to the majestic views of the misty covered mountainous valley. It’s a place away from all the hustle and bustle of big cities.” Wayne and Soledad Gonzalez. From Calgary, AB Canada.

“We chose to build our retirement home in Altos de Antigua for many reasons. We were immediately drawn to the natural beauty of this area, the quiet we experienced here and the perfect climate. For us, it seemed the best of both worlds; English speaking friends and neighbors, as well as the friendly Ticos in the village nearby creating a wonderful sense of community.

After meeting Brian McLane, the developer of Altos de Antigua and seeing first hand both the work that he had already accomplished as well as the high quality homes that he was building; we decided we wanted him to build our Costa Rican “home” too.” Roger and Sandy Baines. From Okotoks, AB Canada.
