So you want Lifestyle? Got it. We have lots of it in Costa Rica. We have even more here in Costa Ballena…

I could write volumes about lifestyle, which I will do over my lifetime living in Costa Ballena (ten years and going strong). Today I want to focus on an element of lifestyle that I am calling Well th. Read that closely.

It correlates to our lifestyle perfectly. Check it out…

Imagine yourself living here in the month of May, when all the travel books say to stay away from the “green/wet” season. Those travel books are nuts! May (or Mayo) is when all mother natures’ work comes to fruition, literally.

All summer the sun pounds the rain forest with non-stop sunshine. The amount of photosynthesis happening here is beyond turbo speed. Then, May arrives and the harvest begins. I am talking about the plethora of food that hangs from the trees, and that springs up from the ground…

Along with this food comes time to relax from the busy high season that is now behind us. Ahhhhhh…hammock time. Lying in your hammock looking at the lightening off the Pacific Ocean and crackling thunder. Time to bring your body speed down a few notches – yoga perhaps?

Oh yes, back to the Well th that we are creating. The green food at the Feria (Farmer Market) is abundant. If you seek the organic options, it is plentiful. Add these to the fruit ripe for picking such as Mangos, Mangas, Bananas, Avocados, Manderinas, Guanabana, Papaya and Mamonchinos.

Do you have a Vitamix? If you are like me, you travel with yours so go crazy! Add some fresh Tumeric to heal your joints, cinnamon, or even cacao (which might come from your property) and mix away. Surely you know that the pharmaceutical industry comes from the rain forest — at least the origin of all remedies (to be debated another time).

Are you feeling Well thy yet?

You, like my family members, come here every so often and are amazed by the freshness of our food. You think fruit back home is very flavorful until you taste it fresh from the tree. There is just no comparison. Each time a friend or family member comes to visit, they remind me of how special a place I live.

Try eating a Mango or Papaya from its tree. A Banana from it bushel. Try a Coconut (free) by climbing it and opening it. Fresh? Umm, yes.

Add it all up! You don’t need a calculator to add this up as all of this came from my property, free of charge. Ready for the punch line? Or maybe it’s a metaphor? I have saved money that would normally go to paying for such Well th, and in the process I am becoming Wealthy by the funds I saved.

Looking back at this article, that ending was not planned. How ironic. Funny how we can create Well th. Talk about thinking outside the box of life.
