This is Scott Oliver’s beautiful vacation home completed in July 2009. It’s perfect for bird lovers as there are hundreds of glorious Costa Rica hummingbirds that visit the feeders each and every single day…

This Is Our Sunset!

When all the doors and windows are open – which is most of the time – the hummingbirds regularly fly through the home.

With approximately 1,797 square feet of living space this wood panel construction, three bedroom, one large bathroom (with nice big shower) mountain home sits on 5,000M2 of land and overlooks the quaint little town of Santa Maria de Dota.

It has an open plan living room, kitchen/dining area with a large terrace at the front with awesome, panoramic sunset views and a perfect view of the little coffee town below.

This area of Costa Rica is the best coffee growing region in Costa Rica, it’s the perfect central location for bird lovers and for any nature lover looking for a peaceful, beautiful vacation home in Costa Rica.

Although Scott and his girlfriend normally eat outside on the terrace during the day to enjoy the many hummingbirds that visit there is a good sized kitchen with an island/dining room table for four, lots of big windows and a large fireplace.

In addition to the 1,797 square feet of living space, there is a 462.68 square feet bodega where the on demand (propane) water heater is installed, there are hook-ups for a washer and dryer (not included), where we store items for the garden, an area for storing and chopping the firewood (leña) and the covered garage area.

The home was designed to have a large office upstairs although this could just as easily be a third, very comfortable bedroom with jaw dropping views. The owners haven’t had a lot of time to spend on the garden which has great potential but they have focusing on planting flowers that attract hummingbirds and butterflies

The home is in the mountains of Costa Rica at an altitude of 2,204 meters (7,230 feet) about 90 minutes from San Jose. Because of its altitude and latitude, you have spring like weather all year around, with temperatures in the day always very comfortable at 70-80 degrees, the coolest we have experienced outside in the early morning has been 55-60 degrees but inside, the house is well insulated and with the fireplace roaring it’s incredibly cozy.

This is our refuge, an oasis of peace, with silent, star filled nights and beautifully clear, sunny days.

This is a spectacularly unspoiled rural location with great daytime views and awesome sunset views but close enough to everything you need.
