Revoke the Peace Prize Awarded to President Barack Obama and Ask for a Refund!

Scott Oliver’s article in October 2009 about President O’Bomba Deserves This Prize certainly ruffled some feathers and as a follow up to that article, we publish VIP Member Walt Clayton’s recent letter which he has just mailed to the Nobel Committee in Oslo, Norway.

Dear Mr. Jagland,




According to Alfred Nobel’s will, the Peace Prize is to go to whoever “shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”




In light of the ongoing war in Afghanistan, now entering its tenth year and showing no signs of abating, I respectfully request that the Nobel Committee revoke the Peace Prize awarded to President Barack Obama, and that his medal, personal diploma, and prize money be returned.




Clearly, with the never-ending hostilities and casualties on all sides, and the deep hatred engendered by our occupying troops, there is no justification for this prestigious award, and I question why it was ever given to him at all, for it was certainly not earned. Although in the United States we have a custom of lavishly rewarding top executives for underachievement, the Nobel Peace Prize is above all that.




As far as contributing to fraternity between nations, the countries we are occupying — Iraq and Afghanistan — despise us and our presence. Neighboring nations like our so-called staunch ally in the “war against terrorism,” Pakistan, actively work with our Taliban and Al Qaeda enemies while accepting billions of dollars and tons of weapons under our foreign policy of Bribe-Bully-Bomb.




I had hoped that President Obama, as our new Commander in Chief, would bring a quick halt to the insanity of this mideast war, but he has failed dismally despite fervent promises. Meanwhile, our young troops are killed and grievously maimed daily, along with countless civilians, while their families back home suffer extreme hardship. All this is acknowledged with deep gravitas and meaningless thanks for their sacrifice, without the price of sacrifice ever touching those who order soldiers into the stinkingly corrupt countries where they are fighting. Meantime, war profiteers are getting richer and richer.




Mr. Jagland, to not tarnish the Peace Prize by awarding it to one who has not earned it. I urge the Nobel Committee to do the right thing and have it shipped back. I can assure you that, under the circumstances, Alfred would approve.
