Since starting construction in January after receiving all of their permits, it was impressive to see how far they have come and how beautiful this project is going to be as the development team strives to find the balance between luxury, comfort and amenities while impacting the environment as little as possible.

One aspect of the project that shows their concern for minimizing the impact on the environment and shows their attitude of quality over quantity is the fact that when the project is complete, it will consist of less than 30% of the units that they received approval for.

Cabo Caletas broke ground on their first phase of infrastructure in the beginning of this year. They are taking the pain staking task and major expense of creating all underground utilities which will have much less of an impact on the beautiful surroundings.

They continue to move forward at a rapid pace on infrastructure of Access 1 and Access 2 which are the main roads providing access and underground utilities for the entire project as well as Camino Real and Bella Esterillos the first two phases of golf course home sites and luxury condominiums.

These roads will be brick paved throughout with roundabouts, wide medians and a series of landscaped and hard scaped areas. They have completed earth movement activities and have already put sub base material on 100% of the roads. They are also approaching the 60% completion mark for major utilities which includes sewer systems, potable water, storm drainage and electric. The goal is to have the first phase of infrastructure complete by October of 2008 along with the first home sites in Camino Real.

Their commitment to deliver quality is shown in the team of project managers, engineers, inspectors, a testing laboratory on site and other measures in order to give the certainty they are receiving the highest quality from their contractor. They have hired a landscape architect who is consulting them regarding erosion control and has already planted extensive well rooted vines which should be at 100% coverage before the heaviest rains later this season.

They have actually begun earth excavation on three golf course holes in order to get a head start on next years construction activities. The plan is to complete the golf course in 2010 and after studying the amount of dirt they have already moved this year for major infrastructure they feel very good about the construction schedule for the golf course.

As mentioned in previous articles, while many developments tout a golf course as one of the primary aspects of their projects, Cabo Caletas is the first to actually break ground since the course in Los Sueños was built more than a decade ago.

Cabo Caletas is a luxury golf course community consisting of home sites surrounding a spectacular championship course designed by the internationally known McCumber Golf Group. Also included are beautifully designed condominiums with breathtaking ocean and mountain views.

The community will include a community beach club featuring a series of infinity pools that terrace down to their volcanic sand beach, a luxury hotel and spa in which they are currently speaking with several groups and were recently approved by Starwood Resorts as a site for a 5 star hotel, and a high end commercial plaza which will feature a variety of restaurants, cafes and a variety of well appointed shops.

This is one of the premier developments currently underway in all of Central America and compared to other ocean front golf course communities in Costa Rica, Cabo Caletas is priced at about 50 cents on the dollar making this a no brainer of an opportunity.
