Costa Rica is such an amazing country with all its beauty and variety of climates. Where we live in Tamarindo on Guanacaste’s “Gold Coast”, we go almost half the year without a drop of rain.

This particular time of the year is the hottest and driest so last week we loaded up the car and made the 8 hour drive South to the Osa Peninsula.

This part of the country is remote and thriving with wildlife.  

For people who enjoy photography, this place is heaven on earth! Monkeys, macaws, eagles, flowers, giant trees and really good surf makes this place a paradise for me and my family.

The first two nights we stayed in Puerto Jimenez and we did some fishing, kayaking, bird watching and found some great seafood restaurants.

The town itself is very laid back and the people were very friendly.  

Then we made our way out to the Matapalo area on the tip of the peninsula where we rented a reasonable bungalow that was very comfortable and clean.

It is important that you know that you need to bring everything with you as there are no stores and very limited options for dining.

The whole area is off the grid so that means no air conditioning however we were quiet comfortable all night listening to the sound of the jungle.  

It was a great experience for my 6 year old.  I love this area and can’t wait to go back!
