I have decided to start a new photo journal aimed at showing our VIP Members what life in Escazu, Santa Ana, and the surrounding areas is all about.

For me, Escazu is a location that offers duality: modern conveniences, amenities and infrastructure, but at the same time we have old sodas (very small restaurants), the occasional cow in the streets, huge verdant mountains, farmers’ markets, and so much more that make it a juxtaposition of worlds.

My goal is to take pictures that show this and have you wondering whether I pulled some from an archive from 50 years ago and others were perhaps taken from a developed country like the US or Singapore. Most of the pictures are from my Blackberry so they are not high resolution.

Here is the new phase of Multiplaza in Escazu which opened at the end of 2009 and is the biggest shopping mall in Costa Rica.

Across the street is the Intercontinental Hotel and not far away along the new highway is CIMA Hospital and Avenida Escazu…

Avenida Escazu is home to a new Marriot Residence in, some of my favorite restaurants Saga and a fantastic French restaurant called L’Isle de France, high end shopping such as Max Mara, and our VIP Imax movie theater where you get a reclining leather seat and waiters will bring sushi, other food, and bar drinks too… ticket price is only $10.

If you look up from Avenida Escazu you see the San Antonio de Escazu area where I saw this quaint little cabin and thought it had classic style…

From the eastern part of Escazu you can look back on to the city and new stadium from a luxurious Escazu apartment building called Alta Pietra where I spend a lot of time. To the west the sunsets are spectacular.

I often ride my motorbike in the mountains of San Antonio and Salitral. Just 15 minutes from my house in the city I can be on top of mountain…

My other favorite mountain hang out is Grifo Alto in Puriscal where I have some property and saw these chickens last week…

And, if you ever want to just get out of town… a Nature Air flight is just minutes away.

I will work to keep this up and try to have interesting photos of the area for readers, there is so much here and I look forward to sharing it with you.
