Now that Independence Day is over for our VIP Members in the USA, I am hoping that a few of our readers have had a few moments to carefully consider how ‘free’ and ‘independent’ we are today compared to yesterday.

It seems to me that we are all easily fooled by our memories.

I have fond memories of my wild teenage years in North London before joining the Royal Marine Commandos but, the fact of the matter is that those memories are of a place that no longer exists today and I think it’s probably the same for the vast majority of people and places.

The same would therefore apply to our memories of how ‘free’ and ‘independent’ we are today compared to yesterday.

I am not a U.S. citizen but did live and work in Manhattan for over a decade, with a grown son and daughter who are American citizens and I follow U.S. politics fairly closely.

In my humble opinion there’s little point in paying attention to what politicians are talking about when they discuss unemployment, healthcare and the elections because A: They clearly lie all the time and B: It’s little more than theatre and I prefer to see what our politicians are actually doing and that’s where it gets interesting.

For example did you see that Forbes magazine article on June 21st which referred to how: “The number of non-military federal officers with arrest and firearm authority (200,000+) now exceeds the number of U.S. Marines (182,000)?”

What?

Why does the IRS need 2,316 ‘special agents’ with pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns with buckshot and slugs; and semi-automatic AR-15 rifles and military-style H&K 416 rifles?

Please think about that for a minute…

Anybody know?

Why does the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, an agency of the US Department of Agriculture, need “a stockpile of pistols, shotguns, and semiautomatic rifles, along with ample supplies of ammunition, liquid explosives, gun scopes, and suppressors. In its cache as well are night-vision goggles, gas cannons, plus armored vests, drones, and surveillance equipment.”

They say “actions speak louder than words” so, what do these actions tell you?

There’s nothing we can do about the past but if freedom and independence TODAY and TOMORROW is important to you, I would strongly encourage you to create a plan ‘B’ for yourself and your family in the very near future.

Invest in your refuge in Costa Rica, perhaps a small home on a nice, fertile plot of land near Lake Arenal, a little farm in the Southern Pacific Zone, start a small business by the beach in Papagayo, Jaco or Tamarindo so that when the ‘caca‘ really does hit the fan, you have a safe place to go because, just as the Forbes article asks: “Just who are the feds planning to battle?”

Do you know?

PS. OpenTheBooks.com is a great resource on this topic, you can see their report on The Militarization of America’s Local Police Departments here.
