If you haven’t said ‘I love you’ recently,
please do it today while you can!

My Dad who we are hoping will still turn
80 years old in May went into hospital in
Scotland a few months ago for some simple
check-ups.

Unfortunately he’s still there with some
puzzling problems and has deteriorated
rapidly.

My younger sister and her husband
live in Southwest England and visited
him over the last few days to try and
arrange some sort of Power of Attorney
(POA) – which we have been trying to
organize for a few years – but, when
the solicitor came to visit her and
Dad in the hospital, Dad was unable
to answer the attorney when he asked
her who my sister was…

For a man who has always had an off-
the-chart high IQ (I must take after
my mother) the fact that he can not
now identify his own daughter has
been quite a shock for us…

He has good moments and bad although
the bad ones appear to be increasing
and even I had a chance to say my
final ‘I love you’ and ‘goodbye’ to
my Mum before she died in 2008, it
looks like I may not get the chance
to do that again with my father.

So go on! If you truly love someone,
tell them again today because you
never know when you’ll be saying ‘I
love you’ for the very last time.
