The Google translate tool is a free and extremely useful tool for those of you who wish to translate to and from English and Spanish…

Like most on computer translations it is not 100% accurate and should never be used for crucially important translations like legal documents (or love letters) but it does give you a very good idea of what it should be…

You can find the Google Translate Tool here and when you get to the page, you just paste in the text or you can even upload an entire document that you want to translate, you then adjust the languages below and click on translate…

Again please remember it’s not 100% correct but can be a tremendous help if you’re in a hurry and you don’t have your dictionary handy.

The Spanish section I translated was: Aunque no estaban previstos en el contrato original, para noviembre se abrirán varios cafés y dos restaurantes con vista a la pista de aterrizaje y un mirador, para que los ticos revivan la época en que se podía observar los aterrizajes dentro del aeródromo.

The English translation that came out was: Although not foreseen in the original contract for November will open several cafes and two restaurants overlooking the runway and a lookout for the Ticos relive the time that could be seen landing in the airport.

It’s “OK” but certainly not perfect …
