Can anyone recommend a good acupuncturist in CR? A specialist who speaks English would be a big bonus.

    Thanks

    Dr. Mauricio Carmona Tack 8998-9695

Dr. Mauricio is a very pleasant man who has offices on the East side of San José and also in Escazu in the first office block on the right hand side as you leave the toll booths going West.

He’s a 38 year old Tico who studied acupuncture in the US so he speaks fluent English. He’s a member of the American Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine.

    Normally charges c25,000 per session.

Please tell him I sent you, I might get a free needle next time I visit which funny enough is this afternoon…

Yes, my doctor in Naranjo if you are in the Grecia area. Only still charging new patients an initial 25,000 for physical every six month or so; Acupuncture 6000 a session; and he can write both private and CAJA prescriptions for you. Good English skills, studied at the University of Paris pharmacology and his daughter who also speaks English practices with him, but no Acupuncture. Write an email for full details, just know you will need Spanish help with the front desk by phone. If you area in the area, I can direct you to the best pizza parlor in all of Costa Rica. Further shopping is both cheaper and many goods abundant like I have never seen elsewhere in Pura Vida.

Thank you for the info referral fro Dr Carmona although I’m a little confused as Scott states he is located in Escazu but you mention he is in Naranjo?

    Thanks

Escazu and Naranjo are kilometers apart. My doctor is in Naranjo only. I have failed to post his number and name here since his receptionist does not speak English. Therefore, I like to warn him of a friend or referral I am sending his way. Then if you call speaking only English you can make contact with him or his daughter-doctor since both speak excellent English.

Naranjo does not have a big expat community so my doctor’s English speaking patients are generally by referral.

Let me know if you need the information.

    Tom
