From what I understand the payments to the CAJA has 2 parts SEM and IVM , one is the medical insurance and the other pension. Does anyone know if it is required to pay into the IVM portion as I do not want to rely on a future pension from the CAJA.
I was paying only the SEM portion for many years as a Volantary contributor but now I was recently “upgraded” to Independent worker and was set up with both portions of the insurance.
At one point I was in limbo , the CAJA had no idea how to classify or what to charge me but that is another story . 2 diferent employees 2 different answers 2 different fees , luckily I went from about $300 a month to about $90 .
Not complaining about the fees to be insured , my bottom line question is just wondering if I can cancel the IVM portion .
Not if you are under 55 years of age.
