Please save yourself some time and use the Discussion Forum Search engine to see if your topic has already been discussed before posting your message.

Working at any kind of job in Costa RicaIncluding in your own business.

If you are considering working in Costa Rica please use the Discussion Forum Search engine and Articles Search engine before posting your question because this topic has been discussed in depth a zillion times.

You may also want to see: Expats Doing Business or Working in Costa Rica With Free Video With Attorney Rick Philps.

Remember that there are often many pages for one thread and you’ll see the page numbers in the top right and bottom right hand corners.

To search, please click on that little Discussion Forum ‘Search’ button and then type in what you are looking for in the Search Term box and you will find – within seconds – all Discussion Forum threads on that topic.

Slander and defamation are criminal offences in Costa Rica and not civil offences which means that although it’s unlikely, people can be locked up for saying things that are considered slanderous or defamatory so please remember this if you see that a comment has been deleted and aren’t sure why. Orphan postings – where nobody has responded – will also be deleted.

Having said that, please note that legal advice will NOT be given in this forum and neither will we give driving directions – there are plenty of maps online.

If you are an expert in a particular field please make that clear because the opinion of someone with significant experience will obviously be considered more valuable by our VIP Members than someone who “ain’t been there and done that.”

The opinions stated in the Discussion Forum do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the founder of WeLoveCostaRica.com – Scott Oliver.

Be nice, no profanity, no name calling, do not include your email address unless you want to be flooded with unsolicited emails and por favor! Remember that commercial posts where someone is obviously trying to promote or sell something are not allowed and will be deleted by one of our Moderators.

1. The ‘Profile’ section at the top allows you to choose whether you will accept Private Messages or not.
2. DO NOT USE ALLCAPS PLEASE!
3. VIP Members can now earn points for time as VIP Members as well as quality of forum posts. Members can “reward” another member by giving some of their own points for particularly helpful posts.
4. Reply with Quote‘ means that when you reply, your reply will contain the individual comment to which you are replying…
5. When you simply click on ‘Reply‘ that means you are replying to the overall Discussion.
6. When you click on ‘New Topic‘ you are starting a whole new Discussion topic.
7. The ‘Subscription Option‘ at the bottom allows you to choose whether you receive updates for new postings to that particular discussion.
8. Where possible, you can send a Private Message to someone who has contributed in the forum by clicking on ‘Send PM‘.
9. To include an image in your Discussion Forum posting, please remember that the image must be under 10K. After you’ve finished typing in your message, you will see under the box Attach File on your left and the word Browse on your right, click on Browse, select the photo from your computer and click on Save and you’re done!
10. To avoid losing everything when the system “times out”, it’s always best to type up your response in some kind of text editor on your own computer first and then when you are completely finished, simply copy and paste it into the relevant Forum thread.
11. Please see how to upload your profile photograph here.
12. This site is called WeLoveCostaRica.com and 99% of us do love living here so if you just want to whine, complain and post negative comments in the Forum without offering sensible solutions, don’t bother posting! There are other English language websites that focus on life’s losers and all the negative “if-it-bleeds-it-leads” crap every single day so instead of posting here please send your comments to them instead!
13. By popular demand we ask that you refrain from straying into U.S. politics except where it directly affects Costa Rica or people living in Costa Rica.

Muchisimas gracias for being an important part of WeLoveCostaRica.com
