Hi guys
some very nice people Pmd me some details of these 2 strategies
if anyone living in costa rica have any links and videos and pics of thier set up I would love to take a sneak peak.
aquaponics is very cool since you kind of get a 2 for 1.. growing fish and also growing veggies..
we really are blessed living in this country aside from the issues at hand.
weather here makes me look like a super stud gardener when actually its the great climate and fertile ground here.
I mean geezz. I grow lemons, oranges, bananas and avocados.. just by planting them 🙂
Do a search of versus each other, you will receive tons of info with pros and cons on the 2 methods, I prefer aeroponics, easier to maintain the water chemistry without fish poop messing the PH up.

do you have any pics of your past set ups??? I wouild agree with the poop but being able to raise your own fish.. also adds to the protien factor 🙂 BBQ and some garlic and butter.. hmmm 🙂
BTW I am very satisfied with a recent purchase..
highly recommended.. i have tried various but this is the best I have found so far.

I have a Berkey filter as well in my “special” room in Fla, nestled between all of my favorite noise maker toys.
The tower garden site I sent you, take special note of the net cups or growing cups, those allow the roots to grow through as well as the mist to get to the roots. I don’t have pics (I’m a dummy). Simple directions;
8″ pvc sewer pipe, 2″ holes drilled on 45 degree angle from top center alternating (figure out what spacing you want). The net cups have a rim on them that prevent them from falling inside the tube. The 8″ pvc, make it as long or shart as you want, I did 10′.
1/4 inch micro tubing mounted on the outside with micro jets protruding through the pvc. This allows the spray nozzles to spray inside the pipe and create a mist/fog.
On one end of the pipe cap, drill your pick up tube hole on the bottom for gravity feed routed to a 100+ gallon an hour garden pump. You will need an inline filter like a fuel filter or sediment filter. You will also need a fill hole on the other end. The water that is not absorbed runs back down to the pick up tube and is ready for recycling. I also added miracle grow liquid fertilizer.
For the growing medium, I used shredded coconut husk or rock wool.
You can grow everything except root veggies. Lettuce grows great, strawberries, all of the squash, melons, tomatoes,, and the list goes on. Your a pretty bright guy, you know the concept now and I am certain you can tweak it to fit your space and situation.
I am headed back to Fla for a few months and will send you some pics when I get there.
