Costa Rican Flamenco and Classical Guitarist Manuel Montero.

Born in Costa Rica Manuel Montero is now a professional flamenco and classical guitarist, his work as musical director, composer, arranger and guitarist has led him to perform in diverse projects ranging from flamenco, in its many expressions, to Latin American music, electronic music, belly dance and jazz among others.

Manuel has been recognized with six first prizes as a guitarist and composer:

1. First national classical guitar price, sponsored by the Cultural Center of Spain and Kashimira guitars. (Costa Rica).
2. First prize “Niño Ricardo” to the best international guitarist (Spain).
3. First Prize “Sabicas” to the best Concert and vocal accompaniment guitarist (Spain).
4. Second Prize “Sabicas” to the best Concert and vocal accompaniment guitarist (Spain).
5. First A.I.E. prize (Artists, performers and composers) (Spain)
6. First prize to the best music for a photographic cut, (New York/USA)

He has also received many rave reviews from the specialized music press categorizing his work at the level of “excellence in his compositions” by figures like Norberto Torres or Manolo Sanlúcar. He has shared the stage with artists like La Niña Pastori, Vicente Amigo, Arcangel, José Luis Rodríguez, Andy Summers, Pepe Romero, Enrique Granados and the Assad Duo among others.

Manuel’s work has taken him to many countries like Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Cuba, Mexico, United States, Russia and Canada where he has also highlighted as a teacher.

Currently on tour around Spain with the “Flamenco en la Piel” project under EMI Music Spain label, appearing at festivals such as Red de Teatros de Madrid, Red de Teatros de Valencia, Red de Teatros de Castilla la Mancha, Cajon Flamenco Festival (Barcelona), GPS (touring halls), Festival of World Music Meeting at Palmas de Gran Canaria, Culture on Tour (Barcelona).

Right now Manuel is promoting his first recording as a soloist with the album titled “Solo” for the music label “La Voz del Flamenco”.
