For me Friday 5th was my rainbow day… From about 8.30am until 5pm we had big beautiful rainbows painted across the blue Costa Rican skies here in the Central Valley.

A rainbow in Spanish is called un arco iris pronounced ‘ahrko eerees’ and today it was also lloviznando pronounced ‘yoveeznando’ which means it was not pouring with rain but drizzling …

Lying within the 8th to 11th tropical parallel, San José and environs surprise many first-time visitors by being so mild and even cool. The city sits at 1,161 m or 3,809 ft and daily temperatures are a pleasant 20 – 23C degrees.

December and January are traditionally windy months.

The weather this week has been unusually cool with strong winds from the east coming in at up to 65kmh so I’m not spending too much time on my tenth floor balcony.
