During the ‘green season’ it is normally gorgeous here in the Central Valley area
around San José during the morning but, at midday tends to cloud over before
we have rain in the afternoon.

When it does rain more, many of the hotels offer special discounts for Costa
Rica citizens and legal residents of Costa Rica
. It makes getting away for
the weekend very affordable indeed.

Please note however that these ‘specials’ are NOT normally available to tourists.
The current ‘Green Season Specials’ of resorts (with websites) advertising in the newspapers this week are listed below:

$55 Arenal Country Inn including
taxes per couple, breakfast included

$39 per person per night, breakfast included at the Sugar
Beach Hotel
.

$32 – Two for one from $32 at the Rancho
Oropendola
.

$83 per person, double occupancy breakfast included at the Flamingo
Beach Resort
.

$35 including three meals and a tour at Volcan
Turrialba Lodge
. (Very ‘rustic.’)

$65 per person all included at the Hotel
Jaco Fiesta
.

$22 per person including breakfast at the Eco
Lodge
.

$60 all inclusive at the Villa Sol villas.

$79 per room, pay for two nights and get a third night free at the Hotel
Fuego del Sol
.

$68 double occupancy at the Guanamar Resort.

$90 per night for two nights with breakfast included at Casa
Caletas
.

Please also note that having only stayed at one of these places, I cannot recommend them from personal experience.
