Originally from the USA Tony Warren has lived in Costa Rica for over 25 years and is now a Costa Rican citizen.

After High school, he studied computer programming at a technical school in Atlanta, Georgia. A few years later he moved to Costa Rica and worked as a accountant for a non-profit organization involved in construction.

For 15 years he ran a wholesale auto parts business in Costa Rica and Nicaragua and in 2009 he retired and moved to the Los Santos area.

Los Santos – The Saints – is called that because so many of these beautiful small towns are named after Saints… Like Santa Maria, San Marcos, San Pablo or San Gerardo…

Los Santos is about an hour and half south of the capital city San Jose just off of the Pan American highway between Cartago and San Isidro. Tony lives with his Costa Rican wife in La Cima de Dota, which is just 2 kilometers from the Pan American Highway.

The Los Santos area is a traditional agricultural area with elevations from 3,000 feet up to nearly 10,000 feet. In the higher elevations there are apple, peach, plum and avocado orchards, along with dairy farms, trout farms, and small farms that grow everything from strawberries, potatoes, lettuce, broccoli and other cool weather crops.

The middle portion is known worldwide for it’s quality coffee like the wonderful coffees from Santa Maria de Dota and the lower areas have cattle farms and other crops.

Los Santos also has the newest National Park in Costa Rica, Parque National Los Quetzales, and the Los Santos National Forest. Several other National Parks and forests are close by. Manuel Antonio National Park is just 45 kilometers away (about a two hour drive, because of the road.) It is regarded as one of the best beaches in Costa Rica.

Although Tony has bought and sold many of his own homes, he is new to the business of selling real estate however he has been trained by an experienced and respected broker Ivo Henfling who has over 20 years working in real estate in Costa Rica.

In the Los Santos area most of Tony’s listings are small farms, rural property and rural homes. He is especially interested in helping those looking for small farms or rural properties where they can become more self-sufficient in these uncertain economical times.

Tony is happy to show his customers the Los Santos area and point out the important places like the City hall, health care facilities, stores and anything they might need after moving here.

He is very careful to do a title search when listing properties to make sure that all his listings have a clean and clear title and unlike many Realtors, he makes sure that all offers and counter offers are in writing

Tony Warren believes that: “If both the buyer and the seller are happy, we have a happy deal. If the buyer still like to talk to me after 1 year, I did the right thing.” And “An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” Benjamin Franklin.

Question: What are the current real estate market conditions in your area?

Answer: “The real estate market throughout Costa Rica is slow right now, but Los Santos area has some very appealing qualities for those looking to live a more self-sufficient life style. It has a strong agricultural background, it is one of the safest places in all of Costa Rica, it has a variety of climates, from very cool in the higher mountains to quite warm in the lower areas.

The area is not well known by ex-pats and maybe because of that prices are more reasonable then in other similar areas.”

Question: What makes you uniquely qualified to help your customers Tony?

Answer: “I am both American and Costa Rican and know both cultures very well. I love Costa Rica and especially the area of Los Santos. I live in Los Santos area and know it and the people here quite well.”

Hello Tony. My name is Minor Chavez and I’m a 50+ year resident of California. I presently live on the California coast,in Cambria, roughly 200 miles from either LA and San Francisco, where my property and homes are located. I’m in the process of relocating my 96 year old mom to a family assisted facility in Escazu so that she can enjoy the remaining years of her life close to family and childhood friends here in Costa Rica. In the near future I will be shuttling for months at a time between CA and CR so that I can be close to mom. I’m very interested in acquiring property both along the Guanacaste coast, and in the area of your expertisse, Los Santos. I write you in English, but I’m also fluent in Spanish. I hope to hear from you soon so that we can meet, and plan a tour of the area. Greetings, Minor Chavez.

Hi Tony, my name is Maurice Champlin and I presently work and live in China. I am originally from the New England area. My wife (Chinese) and I have been doing a lot of research on where we should move once my contract is up at the end of 2019. I do not wish to return to the United States and we were looking for a nice quite place out of the way to raise our son (American Citizen). I was raised in a rural area in Connecticut and Rhode Island. We do not like the tourist areas, nor the big city due to pricing, population, traffic, etc. We are not rich everything we own we have worked for and believe in hard work. we are presently saving our money and believe we have found the spot we are looking for. Yes, we will come and visit to ensure we can fit into this area and with the people. I would like the price range of the properties in this area. We are not looking for the best nor the largest. We want to stick with reality. Something small that we can do a little farming and maybe trade with the neighbors sometimes. Thank you for your time and patience.
