Costa Rica definitely has no shortage of active athletes who love taking advantage of the country’s beautiful terrain and weather.

The Jaco & Central Pacific area is one of the most popular regions for athletic contests and events.

Last weekend the Central Pacific was home to the Eco Triathlon which included over 300 participants.

Athletes of all ages participated in the event that included running, swimming and bicycling.

The first leg of the competition began in Playa Herradura, where swimmers raced in the warm waters of the Pacific.

The second leg featured a cycling route all the way down to the beaches of Esterillos, followed by the final leg where the athletes made a run back to finish at the Los Sueños marina.
