After a decade working on Wall Street, I left the Upper West Side in New York City during a brutal blizzard in early 1996 – with a thick accented Russian limo driver who kept on telling me “Dis snow eez notting” – to live in the Cayman Islands and boy! Am I glad I left …

Now I pay less taxes per year – legally I should add – than I used to pay every month in New York City … Admittedly I am earning less but I am not paying 35.48 – 40.44% – of my hard earned money to the tax man and I’m a whole lot happier….

In those early days on Wall Street of 500-900 telephone calls per day, the type ‘A’ personality wasn’t an accurate tag for me, type ‘AAA’ was probably more descriptive but thankfully ten wonderful years in Costa Rica has taught me a lot and my plastic, totally artificial, Yuppy Matrix days on Wall Street are – Gracias A Dios (thanks to God) – long gone.
