The Water and the Wildlife In Jaco Costa Rica

jaco costa rica real estate wildlife

Jaco is a very popular place for multiple reasons, one of which being the waterfalls that serve as natural landmarks. The Catarata Llanos del Cortes is a local and tourist favorite because it’s reasonably close to Rio Celeste and Liberia, and because it’s one of the most unique waterfalls in all of Costa Rica.

In Guachipelin within Rincon de la Vieja National Park, locals and tourists flock to the 25 feet high waterfall that is perfect for jumping off of. It’s known for giving everyone who takes the leap an enormous adrenaline rush and the feeling of flying.
jaco costa rica real estate surf
Jaco holds some of the best surf turf in all of Costa Rica, as well. Playa Jaco has surf that is very consistent with a couple of short breaks, which makes it a great spot for surfers of all experience levels. Swell sizes typically go up to 7 feet high before closing out.

Where the wildlife is concerned, you don’t have to go very far to see the beautiful fauna that Jaco has to offer. Scarlet macaws can be seen basically everywhere along the beach’s south end. The macaws and even toucans are known to visit beachside condos and can be spotted all over town. Hummingbirds, egrets, herons, flycatchers, woodpeckers, orioles, and tanagers are also frequent fliers that can be spotted around the local neighborhoods, as well.

Neo Fauna is a local, tour guided attraction that lets you get up close with some of the many animals that frequent not only Jaco, but of Costa Rica entirely. Even though it’s more for tourists, locals also like to take the tour quite a bit, mostly because of the baby animals that have been rescued and are able to be held by visitors.

The Bountiful Local Food Spots

If you’re a foodie who wants to indulge yourself then Jaco is the definite place to be. Unlike the rest of Costa Rica, Jaco has some of the best restaurants and more traditional options that everyone will enjoy.

Soda shops are some of the best places to be. They offer authentic Costa Rican cuisine at very low prices. You can typically get beans, rice, and your choice of a filling meat. Rustico’s, for example, is one of the most popular sodas in Jaco.

Jaco is a beautiful destination to visit, of course, but living there is an entirely different story. You feel as if you live in a little slice of paradise that is your own.

The Price Range of Homes

There’s a very good reason as to why the phrase “pura vida”, which translates to “pure life” in English, is very common in Costa Rica. Jaco, specifically, offers residents their own personal paradise that they can delve deep into.

The price range in Jaco isn’t exactly a cheap one, but it’s worth every penny. The price range is determined based on the location and type of property that you’re looking for.

For a beachfront property, you’re looking at a range of between $195,000 to $1,100,000. For condos, you can expect a range sitting between $140,000 to $1,100,000. Mansions, also known as “luxury homes”, can run you up to $3,000,000 on average.

Jaco Costa Rica real estate may be on the pricey side, but once you step foot into your new home and take in what’s yours, you’ll understand why it’s the perfect place to be!

Jaco Beach Real Estate

Jaco Beach is one of the only beaches in Costa Rica that isn’t swarmed with local vendors. The waves are great for surfing as they can get pretty large. The waves don’t affect the swimming quality of the water, despite the size of the waves, and is an overall great place to swim. Jaco Beach is better suited for those who would rather splash around or ride a wave compared to those who want to tan more than anything.

Picture yourself in a 2 bed and bath condo that features an oversized pool that leads into the Pacific ocean. Jaco Beach also offers an exclusive luxurious penthouse with a mountain backdrop and an amazing view of the ocean water.

Living a beachfront lifestyle is truly a grand experience. You can enjoy your breakfast with the sunrise, and later end the day with your feet up, a cold drink in your hand, and a gorgeous sunset in the distance.

Condos for Sale in Jaco Costa Rica

Jaco has some of the best condos, both near and afar from Jaco Beach. Living in an ordinary condo doesn’t have to be so ordinary, especially when you live in Jaco. Even if you’re living off the beach area there are still wonders to be found when you live a condo life.

jaco costa rica condos for sale

The exclusive Los Suenos Resort condos are to die for. With 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and all the luxury you could ever long for in a condo, why settle for less? While the aesthetic value of your condo may not be your decision alone, but the decision of the association altogether, the closeness of necessities and shopping makes it all worthwhile.

The condo lifestyle is like no other, especially when paired with the beach, with a close-knit community and your desires close to home. Buying a home is tedious compared to what you can have with condos in Jaco Costa Rica.

The climate here is very ideal and much more tolerable compared to the heat that can be found elsewhere in Costa Rica. Central Valley is much less warmer than that of anywhere else, which makes the traffic worth it.

In fact, the climate here feels much like spring time all year around, so it’s a great place to visit or move to if you’re looking to escape the heat. During the day the highest temperature sits around 70 to 80-degrees, while the highest temperature during the night will sit around 60-degrees. Very few of the residents there require any air conditioning or central heating.

It’s a wonderful place to live for those who prefer rural living. Because Central Valley is always bustling with locals and travelers alike, it’s best to walk around, if possible, instead of driving. The roads can be quite busy here.

Alajuela is home to Costa Rica’s largest and most busiest international airport, the Juan Santamaría Airport (SJO), which serves as the best point to takeoff and travel from to the many destinations throughout this country.

What is the cost of living in Jaco?
