That’s ’cause no signs are posted. But, try this:

Directions To Airport via New Toll Road:
    1. Exit CA-1 at the first Puntarenas exit (Highway CR 23 towards Double
    Tree Hotel)
    2. Stay on CR 23/27 following signs to Orotina, Quepos.
    3. When CR 23 & CR27 split, stay left on CR 27.
    4. About 16 kilometers past the CR23/CR27 split, pay toll of 480 colones
    5. Stay on CR23 towards Atenas/San Jose. When you reach Atenas you will
pay toll of 640 colones. Continue driving towards Turrucares/ Coyol.
    6. From the second toll booth drive 9.5 km and then exit the toll road at
    the Coyol/Siquiares(sp?) exit (Hwy 721)
    7. The Coyol exit is a double traffic circle. Go ¾ around the first
circle and turn right just past the sign to Ciruelas & Coyol. You will then
enter onto a second traffic circle. Go ¼ around the circle, turning right just past the sign to Ciruelas.
    8. Drive 3.5 km into Ciruelas until the road ends. Turn left towards
Coyol/El Roble. After driving only 30-40 meters you will cross the turnoff to Coyol . Do not take this turn. Go straight ahead towards El Roble.
    9. Drive 5 KM. You will see two small blue & white airport signs. The
first will say Airport 2 KM. You travel a very short distance to a fork in the road and a second sign that says Airport 2KM with an arrow to the right. Turn onto the right fork.
    10. Follow road 2km to the airport. The road ends at the airport. You will
have to turn right and drive 40-50 meters until the roads loops around taking you to the airport entrance.
    11. When you turn into the airport, do not go up the ramp to the departure
area. Stay left for departures. 20-30 meters on your left is the
entrance to the covered parking area.
    12. After you take your ticket and drive 25-30 meters into the parking
structure, you will see a stair well on your right. Park your car and then walk back to the stairwell. Take the stairs to the second level where you will see the entrance to the departure area.
    Return:
    1. After you pay your parking fee, you will drive 20-30 meters to the road
that runs in front of the airport. You want to turn left (This is a very busy area with fast moving traffic in both directions).
    2. Follow the airport road for 1km. You will pass a gas station on your
right. After you pass the gasoline station, there are two roads that intersect the airport road. You want to turn right onto the SECOND road.
    3. Drive 2 km until the road ends. Turn left ( This is a very busy
    intersection )
    4. Drive 5km to Ciruelas. Do not take the turn off to Coyol. 50 meters
past the turnoff to Coyol is the road to Turrucares. Turn right towards
Turrucares. Drive 3.5 miles to the traffic circles that will get you onto the new toll road going to Atenas/Orotina/Puntarenas

In an effort to offset 2b’s somewhat left-handed compliment to David, I think it should be mentioned that the letter to the editor in this morning’s AMCostaRica was well written, and made very clear where any problem might lie. Thank you, David.
