thank you for your thoughts. it all seems reasonable to me and i suspect economic considerations would trump any ancient transgressions, but…..all in all, it seems a reasonable risk to apply. hey, they let in robert vesco (maybe before your time?).mahalo, ya’ll.

i didn’t spend much time in atenas during my first visit to costa rica. but…go to the big island or kauai in hawaii to get an impression of what it’s like (without some of the shabbyness).it aint no haole suburb with streetlights, sidewalks and no people in sight (empty front porches). no lexuses in the driveway or franchise gourmet units in strip malls. i liked it, and the appearance led me to believe that it would be a place that ordinary folks could live, if you can handle the lack of STUFF and like PEOPLE. heck, the lack of exotic foodstuffs will bother me somewhat, but….my only question would be what america is known for, namely grouping or organizing (you know the frenchman, from long ago whose name escapes me). any organized sports? yeah i know soccer is king, but is there any leagues for seniors? well, there’s something to do.sorry about the wandering topics, but….my impressions!hope they let me in.

i don’t know where you went or how you presented yourself, but my experience was that ticAs are interested in you but their interest is presented subtly as opposed to other countries i’ve traveled in and they want the security of a retired american in their own country, not america! the ticOs i met are interested in finding a rich american woman and going to america (an unrealistic dream at best). also, all i’ve heard re: ticos unwillingness to invite you to their homes is not necessarily true.in 9 days there i was invited to a tico home by the gardener at my dorme y desayune after two nights of drinking beer and talking story, to meet his wife and three kids. he spoke no english y se hablo poquito, but we became compas (sp?). maybe it’s you. i lived 10 years in hawaii, upon returning to the mainland learned what up-tight middleclass honkies who look over your back fence to see what you’re doing wrong so they can pass a law against it are all about.it’s my, maybe ill-considered, opinion and as such i have no desire to engage in any discussion about it, but it’s something to consider since my experience is so different from yours. i loved it there and when the housing market improves i’m on my way. that being said there’s all kinds of people everywhere, keep on trucking. hey it is you!

i’m baffled (and maybe about to be screwed) but i’ve just rented a diahatsu 4by, in conjunction with air for $152.00 for 10 days with budget at the airport thru orbitz.the air was 709.00 from oakland,ca.seems a lot cheaper than anything i’ve heard on this site. wassup?
