It’s another beautiful morning here in Santa Ana, Costa Rica and I truly feel blessed to be living here…

There are many reasons ‘why’ people move to Costa Rica and I would love to know your ‘why.’

  • People who love the outdoors are delighted that practically every day is picture perfect.
  • Peace lovers clearly appreciate the fact that Costa Rica has no army, navy or air force.
  • Single men love Costa Rica because the Costa Rican women – the Ticas – are simply gorgeous! They don’t tend to remain single for long.
  • A big percentage of couples come to Costa Rica to experience a different, more laid back Latin culture.

Won’t you please tell me ‘why’ you love living in Costa Rica? And, if you’re not already here but plan to move to Costa Rica in the future, why do you think you would love living in Costa Rica?

What is your ‘why’?

  44. Weather: Start with the weather; it is perfect for me. Nationwide, a daily high of 85 +/-, low of 67 +/-, half the year dry and half the year wet. Howler monkeys are my alarm clock; toucans announce happy hour in the early evening.
  45. People: The number of the population is approximately equal to the number of people you will see smiling, or smiling back. If you treat the locals with respect, you can easily be invited into their circles, and be accepted as “familia.” I am active in the local Catholic church, and sing in the Spanish choir; once they realized that I was being a part of their culture, they accepted me with no strings attached, and wanted to be part of mine. It’s almost embarrassing how much they want to do for me. They annually rank among the world’s happiest people. Several people have asked me to help them get a business started, or to start one with them. They quickly trust you, if you trust them and learn at least some of their language and culture.” Ed K.
  46. Health: The private health care system provides very affordable and quality care. I have personally helped some locals with the small extra cost to go outside their public system, which is – well, socialized medicine. The fresh fruit, coffee, rice, and freshly caught ocean fish make the restaurant and home cuisine very healthy – no preservatives needed. The panaderias (bakeries) are my mouth’s favorite, with tropical fruit fillings.” Ed K.
  47. Ambience: My CR home and business are literally in a rainforest, 10 minutes from the Pacific, about a 3 hour drive from Panama. We have Corcovado, the planet’s most bio-diverse area. We have 12 beaches within a 20-mile stretch, some of them world class surfing beaches. I’ve often said that I don’t ever want to be cold again; that’s easy to achieve in CR (at this moment I am temporarily staying in Phoenix where today is a chill factor of 109).” Ed K.
  48. If one is inclined to live in a different country, this is the place. I probably shouldn’t tout it too loudly, because then I will be lost in the stampede of new expats. Oh well! “Tranquilo” and “Pura Vida” to everyone.” Ed K.
