If asked at all, it will probably when you check in for your return trip to Costa Rica.

The main thing would be to monitor the amount of heat and sun, making sure the baby doesn’t get dehydrated.
And make sure you have an insect repellent that is recommended for babies, such as Avon’s ‘Skin so soft’.
Don’t presume you can buy it here

areca your question of ”…lets not forget about are all of those Costa Ricans in San Jose with half of a body lining the sidewalks… Why?”
A doctor told me that most of those who have lost limbs, was due to diabetes and the lack of the necessary ‘tools’ to fight this disease. Right or wrong…who knows?

Unfortunately, it often it takes 3 years for surgery through the CAJA system.
Last week while my husband was in the bank, a well dressed man …as they usually are… approached the car window to show me a paper with info on it regarding a huge tumor on the back of his neck and that he was trying to raise funds to get it removed. This was the size of a large grapefruit, and I said to my husband when he returned, ”why do you think nothing has been done for this man by CAJA?”
¡Muchas gracias! to the men and women on these medical teams!

David, I didn’t mean to say that you did…just to point out what happens here, every year is that homes get washed away, if the are too near a source. Or worse, below…

I would be wary on building anywhere near a river. Having seen the results firsthand, where during the rainy season, suddenly the river has grown both in volume and width, demolishing everything in its path.
This year has been worse than usual, with more to come.

We used to have meat chickens and as you say, they were kept inside. But, we found it wasn’t worth paying out for the feed since the cost was prohibitive, when we really just enjoy the breasts, so we buy when we want them.
We laugh when the all of the larger turkeys get up on the bodega roof….

I had no intention of being sarcastic or offensive and do not see why you felt I had done so.

majicmerlin4 asked about supplies, and I replied that question had been asked before, with no responses, see this thread

While we don’t have any solar panels, we have had power poles stolen, twice, so yes, this is going to be an ongoing concern.

Funny, I think that most Ticos let their chicken wander everywhere, even along the roads…

I’m fed up with it too!
We planted over 8,000 trees last year and 3,000 earlier this year and are trying to keep the weeds away, this rainy season, but being weeds they are growing faster…

One positive is that they Pitahaya blooms are plentiful

Although Walmart has a few stores, I don’t think they will open a pharmacy to sell to their American customers, as ex-pats are only a very small percentage of their customers and of the population of the country.
Plus, as mentioned before, we are spread out all over the place….

Yes, the taxes are quite high but it will depend on age. We imported 2 Bombardiar ATV’s with one being a legal 2 seater.
It will need to go through Ritive, the same as any street legal vehicle, if you are going to use it on roads. Off road, it is not required. To get plates and pass Ritive it must have mirrors, horn, etc. A friend imported a ‘Mule’ and for some unknown reason, to us anyway, was not deemed ‘legal’ although others have been.
In regards to using it a second vehicle, I would say it depends on where you live. Driving through San Jose on it, is not advisable but in smaller towns, there should be no problem.
That being said, if you are going to drive it on loose gravel roads you need to be extra careful.
Polaris ATV’s are popular here, but parts may have to be imported, which can take time….

Heat homes in CR? Only in the mountains or quite a high altitude is that necessary.
Geothermal plants are throughout the country, but on a very large scale.
Find a property in the Central Valley and in many other areas … even in Guanacaste… and neither heat nor A/C is needed.
