In most parts of the world they have a television channel devoted to giving you information about the weather.

In searching for ‘weather channel’ on Google, I found a mere 90,800,000 pages which is nearly as many as ‘Costa Rica real estate’ (only kidding) that’s only 28,100,000 (as of 28th May 2015).

In Costa Rica, it wasn’t until about ten years ago that they even mentioned the weather at the end of the television news.

There is no Costa Rica TV weather channel, it does not exist.

If it did, it would be REALLY short of viewers. I mean really, how much time can you devote to two different weathers that we have in the Central Valley area for example?

Costa Rica Weather Report During the Dry Season:

“Here in the Central Valley area the weather will be gorgeous with plenty of sunshine and crystal clear skies all day long so you can wear flip-flops and a T-shirt (I do sometimes wear a shirt) if you wish, with temperatures during
the day of 70-85 degrees.”

Costa Rica Weather Report During the Green (Rainy) Season:

“Here in the Central Valley area in the morning, the weather will be gorgeous, and with plenty of sunshine, crystal clear skies with temperatures during the day of 70-85 degrees… Then after lunch it will probably cloud over and rain for a few hours so you might have to put on a pair of shoes instead of your flip-flops.”

Right now as I write this in Santa Ana (San José) it’s 82 degrees and very, sunny!

How we suffer!

PS. You can always see Costa Rica’s weather here.

PPS. You can see the weather data for many different areas around the country on the Instituto Meteorológico here.

You can choose to show the temperature in Centigrade or in Fahrenheit and, you can see the Total and Average rainfall for that specific geographic area as well as the average number of days during that month with rain.
