This is Robert Irvin, a developer of The Oaks Tamarindo to talk a little bit this morning about climate.

Where I lived for many years, Miami, the climate is hot and humid. Lots of rain, high humidity. I like it but I don’t love it.

When I came to Costa Rica 10 years ago, I decided not only to look for a location that was convenient and had great beaches but also a location that had the climate that I like and I found the cure outside Tamarindo. A climate is a matter of taste and my taste is hot and not very humid.

So in touring all of the beaches and the mountains of Costa Rica, what I found was that Costa Rica has at least seven and probably more micro climates. You get the climate that you want by moving 100 miles in any direction.

I considered all of the coastal areas from the border of Nicaragua all the way to the border of Panama and what I found was that in the northwest corridor which is where we are outside of Tamarindo and Flamingo, the climate is hot and dry.

We have our humid months but they are nothing like the humid months farther south. We do not have our cold weather like you can find in the mountains and in terms of rainy weather, we have much less than you will find in Central Valley.

One of the reasons that The Oaks has been successful as a rental location is that the Costa Ricans from San Jose come here during months that are rainy in San Jose but dry and sunny here.

They know that the place to come for a beach place is in the northwest coast.
