Altos De Antigua is a picturesque 250 acre residential community located in the lush green hills of La Palma, Puriscal.

Seeing the beautiful home that Brian and Mariel had built for themselves in a lush, green, picturesque and totally peaceful area of Costa Rica, impressed friends and family back home in Canada began asking whether Brian could perhaps do the same for them? Escaping from the Frozen North. Canadian couple flee from Calgary to enjoy a 'tranquilo' retirement in Puriscal, Costa Rica. The variety of bird life is unbelievable. Blue ones, green ones, yellow black redheaded ones and that was in just one of the lush mature trees 10 feet from the entrance gate. Then a quick stop at the local 'soda' for a $4 breakfast for two people with to-die-for Costa Rican coffee. . . . Keep reading
A Very Merry Christmas in Puriscal, Costa Rica

A Very Merry Christmas in Puriscal, Costa Rica We also really liked going for hikes in the area; on our last day we hiked about two hours to the site of a plane crash in 2005. The road took us to the top of a mountain, and the view was unreal! We ran into some Ticos along the way, and we were delighted again and again with how friendly and accommodating they were, even in the face of our sadly nonexistent Spanish skills. . . . Keep reading
Costa Rica. "It was the best time of my life."
Written by VIP Member Melody Majauskas
Costa Rica. "It was the best time of my life." Not far from the pool is a beautiful garden that almost takes your breath away. I have never seen so much green and color in my life. Tall trees surround the garden and a small pond is right in the middle. Should I ever go back this is where I'd like to spend a lotmore of my time. It was absolutely beautiful. . . . Keep reading

Gourmet Living in Puriscal, Costa Rica. One of our favourite activities is... eating! Being invited to one of Brian and Mariel's dinner parties, is a highlight of our stay at Altos de Antigua. The table is always elegantly decorated, due to Mariel's attention to detail and artful displays. The meal is scrumptious and the company delightful. Sharing these special times together, with others that have moved here too, help to make our house in Costa Rica feel like home. . . . Keep reading
Retirement Living in the Charming Little Town of Puriscal. The basic scoop plus free video of the area...
Scott Oliver - November 2011
Retirement Living in the Charming Little Town of Puriscal. The basic scoop plus free video of the area... Previously, the Puriscal region was known as Turkey Tail, named by Mr. Jorge and Jesus Retana, who traded here when there were only a few resident families. The county name comes from the evolution of the word purisco, which refers to the time when the bean is in flower. Puriscal originally was a place known for their crops of beans. . . . Keep reading
Canadian Couple To Build Their Retirement Home in Puriscal, Costa Rica.
Terry and Vivian Smith from Canada. October 2011.
Canadian Couple To Build Their Retirement Home in Puriscal, Costa Rica. We found the climate (both political and weather-wise) in Costa Rica to be very attractive. When we arrived we discovered an exciting new world with at least eight different micro-climates. A major decision factor for us was temperature; coming from a colder climate like Canada we didn't want to retire in a place of extreme heat either. We were able to look objectively at what it was we really wanted and what we valued most. We spent weeks looking all over Costa Rica to find a place that we could see ourselves living in. . . . Retirement Living in Altos de Antigua - Puriscal, Costa Rica

Retirement Living in Altos de Antigua - Puriscal, Costa Rica When we stumbled upon a tiny valley, we were surprised by the creation of a large pond, chock full of tilapias, that utilizes the water coming from a year-round spring, which doubles as a holding pond to collect fast running rain water. What stands out is there is a place for BBQs, conditioned for moonlit nights, a romantic gazebo that stands out from the well groomed slopes as well as the surrounding gardens, planted with knowledge and good taste. . . .
