Build Your Own Retirement or Vacation Home In Costa Rica.
For those of you dreaming of building your own affordable home in Costa Rica, this series of articles will show you what's possible working with a modest budget.
This is my own vacation home and you can track our progress because I took lots of photographs and published articles so you can see what we did and, I have made it crystal clear how much it cost to build.
This type of rural location and rustic, wood panel construction is not everyone's cup of tea but, we love the cozy, earthy, natural energy of a home built from wood and, although we're only 15 minutes from a small town it's our refuge, an oasis of peace, with silent, star filled nights and beautifully clear, sunny days.
This home could be located in any one of a hundred, different, beautiful rural locations in Costa Rica. There are so many stunning places in this country where great deals can be had 'if' you have the time and energy to find them.
We built a two bedroom home, with one huge bathroom, an open plan living room and dining room area with a large terrace at the front with awesome, panoramic views to the valley below, a good sized kitchen, a study upstairs and lots of windows, a large fireplace, a bodega where I chop and then store the firewood (leña) and a garage area.

New Resort Style Retirement Community in Naranjo Starting At US$240K With Seller Financing Costa Rica Realtors in Atenas
The Costa Rica guidebooks scarcely mention Naranjo. It has no claim to fame like Atenas' "Best Climate", or Grecia's "Cleanest City", yet it shares the same year-round spring-like climate and the intimate charm of a tranquil small town. With an estimated population of around 20,000 in the Canton of Naranjo, an elevation of just over 1000 meters, and direct access to the Pan American Highway; Naranjo should be considered when looking for good real estate values in Costa Rica. . . .

Building Your Own Home in Costa Rica. A look back at 2010 Architect Gloriana Mejia
Last year was a great year to invest in small construction projects. Material prices were reasonable, given the end of the "real estate and construction boom" that affected not only Costa Rica, but markets worldwide: materials otherwise overpriced for the last 5 years, were widely discounted and good bargains were found everywhere. . . .
