The annual golf tournament for the CRGAR (Costa Rican Global Association of Realtors) is a fun event where members of the real estate community come together once a year and celebrate our mission to bring professionalism and ethics to real estate in Costa Rica.

This tournament is a vital activity for this non-profit association and also raises money for local charities.

Our company participated as one of the many sponsors this year. We had a great time and handed out refreshments to the golfers as they came by our tent on the 10th green.

This year we raised money for the Amigos de la Educacion foundation which helps raise money for area Guanacaste schools in need. Golfers and enthusiasts from all over Costa Rica made the trip this year to Reserva Conchal in Playa Conchal, Guanacaste.

The 18-hole golf course borders Playa Conchal and Brasilito in the Reserva Conchal community in northwest Guanacaste. The golfers were in teams of four (a scramble format) and there were trophies awarded to the winning teams.

Thousands of dollars were raised this year which helped purchase basic supplies as well as computers for schools within a 20 km radius of the Tamarindo. There was also an additional $1,000 raised in sales of raffle tickets. The raffle consisted of many generous donated prizes from area businesses.

I think it is so important that area businesses give back to the local communities. The children and teachers are so incredibly appreciative of any of all donations they receive from outside private sources. All of the local schools in our area are severely underfunded and lack some truly basic items that we take for granted.

There are also a handful of schools that do not even have ONE computer. When I went to public school in upstate New York, we never had to think about things like this. Funds from this tournament directly went to help buy computers plus basic everyday supplies needed for the students, such as notebooks, pens and pencils.
