Why are Costa Rica Doctors and Surgeons are a big 'tourist' attraction?

We're going to take a quick peek at why Costa Rica Doctors and Surgeons are a big 'tourist' attraction and one simple reason why more than a hundred thousand people come here every year for superb surgery, dental treatments and other professional medical care.

Many states in the USA are losing Doctors because of the soaring cost of medical-malpractice insurance. Medical professionals in high-risk specialties like neurology and obstetrics are literally giving up on their professions and closing their practices... Costa Rica Doctors do not have this concern.

According to a Washington Times article about Doctors in Illinois since 2000, 11% of Illinois' obstetricians and gynecologists have decided to stop delivering babies because of liability concerns. Costa Rica Doctors don't worry about this in fact having a baby here in a private hospital will cost you less than US$1,000

Obstetricians practicing in Illinois paid an average US$139,696 annually for malpractice insurance in 2003; neurosurgeons averaged US$228,000, according to the Illinois State Medical Society. Costa Rica Doctors do not have this problem either.

Insurance in Costa Rica - Protect yourself and your loved one

Paying US$19,000 per MONTH for insurance is serious money... And when you think about the poor physician that has just finished his formal training and has about US$250,000 worth of debts to pay off from day one which is plain 'sad!' Costa Rica Doctors do not have this problem.

You can blame the trial lawyers who oppose limits on malpractice awards, you can blame the 'frivolous' lawsuits, rising frequency and severity of claims or blame the greedy insurance companies but, the bottom line is that costs are out of control and with rapidly increasing drug prices, it is not going to improve soon ...

Costa Rica Doctors and Surgeons do not have this problem because nobody is required to have malpractise insurance so right off the bat they are saving themselves a huge amount of money and quite a headache. Now in catastrophic circumstances, this could be a negative but let's face it!

The best Doctors and Surgeons in the world can do everything right and still something can wrong ... But for 'low-risk' procedures, you might want to consider getting it done here because ...

In Costa Rica, many of the best Doctors and Surgeons received their medical training in the best teaching hospitals in the USA and use 'state of the art' equipment.

My friend Cathy Pighini says; "I was overwhelmed at their courtesy, patience and helpfulness. CIMA Hospital is as good or better than any hospital I have visited in the US and the equipment used, the procedures implemented left me feeling very safe and secure. And they treated me "better than any Doctor I have ever seen."

"Depending on which quote we compare it to, we saved between US$16,000 to US$21,000 and the medical care rates as well as the top care given in most US hospitals and better than most."

The sad fact of the matter is that according to NationMaster the average Costa Rican, Japanese, Swiss, Canadian, Italian, Australian, Spanish, Greek, Austrian, British (Phew!) and the citizens from 38 other nations live longer than the average American... Even though the average Americans spends much more than any other nation trying to stay healthy (twice as much as the UK).
