A good health care system is vitally important when you evaluate a new place to live, part-time or full-time.
In the past few months, a couple of close friends of mine have had some close encounters with a variety of incredibly well trained medical professionals here in Costa Rica: Doctors, dentists, surgeons, acupuncturists and more...
Unlike all the other Central American nations, Costa Rica has many highly trained, fully bilingual medical professionals who's personal goal when they see you is more along the lines of: "What can I do to help you get better?" Rather than the more common feeling I used to get in other 'first-world' locations where the first thing on the Doctor's mind always seems to be; "I wonder how much money I can make from this schmuck?"

In an effort to be able to recommend the 'best of the best' for my own family and our WeLoveCostaRica members, I have come to know a few of these professionals.
Today I would like to take this opportunity to give a very special, personal 'Thank you' to Dr. Eduardo Loyola at CIMA Hospital (just outside San Jose) who helped my 70+ year old father and my white haired 70+ year old Mum when they both had two separate falls whilst visiting me in Costa Rica.
When we called Dr. Loyola to talk about my Dad's fall, he gave us an appointment immediately at CIMA Hospital which is one of the best hospitals in Costa Rica and in fact, throughout Central America...
After this scare, my parents and I were discussing what a shame it was that they had to come all the way from the first-world (where the health care looks and smells more like the third-world but charges first-world prices) to Costa Rica to receive first-world medical care and prompt professional service at an extremely affordable price...
