A Dog and Two Cats

VIP Member Ken Beedle - 1st September 2008

When I woke this morning I found Sasha in my closet on top of my clothes. Katy is almost always waiting outside our bedroom door. This morning she was not there. I called for her.

"Meow! Meow" came a distant cry. Cats have ways of finding the strangest places so I began searching closets, bathrooms and under the car in the garage. "Meooow Meooow! came another plaintive cry.

I could hear Katy calling but had no idea where she was. I looked out through the windows to the patio where Carmella the Bouncing Poodle was making her presence known. Silvia's mother does not allow her to sleep in the house at night.

Then I heard and saw Katy the Kat at the same time. She had spent the night with Carmella the Bouncing Poodle. They had a pajama party and did not tell me. I opened the door and she rushed into the house like dust in a March wind.

Carmella the Bouncing Poodle knows where her biscuits come from. She and Katy the Kat are now kissing cousins. Sasha (our other cat) has been sulking since his arrival but is slowly coming out of the closet. He has gone missing a couple of times only to found inside the car. He can't see over the steering wheel so I am not worried.

After I returned from the gym this morning I worked in the rancho clearing out four years of accumulated growth. The rancho is going to be a major project.

It is walled and we have trees in the back but it needs flowers... LOTS OF THEM. When Silvia's mother called me for lunch she pointed to the garage. Sasha was sitting on top of the car as if waiting for me to take him back to Yakima. Nothing against Yakima but "fat chance".

In the afternoon he came out of shock and decided to join the family. He sometimes hisses at the poodle (I do on occasion as well) but he was in the kitchen with my sister-in-laws and nephews so apparently he has realized he has no choice about where he is going to live.

Friday, I turn 65! Makes me tremble with unrestrained excitement.

Fortunately, I am still able to do whatever whenever. I do not have any physical complaints and I seem to have enough gray matter that I can answer questions without drooling.

Saturday morning I will celebrate by my return to Parque Nacional Tapanti. It is a pristine area filled with animals, birds and butterflies. More importantly it is the place Silvia and I enjoyed our first kiss. It was a special moment with a blue butterfly circling our heads.
