Atenas is a small mountain town located about halfway between San Jose and the central Pacific beaches (both under 30-minute drives). Said to have "El Mejor Clima del Mundo" (The Best Climate in the World), Atenas already has a large expat retirement community that enjoy the tranquility and convenience. This quaint town consisting of just roughly 6 commercial blocks in the Centro has modern shopping and several great restaurants along with a popular farmers market on Friday mornings.The town has a terrific local bus system, and many inexpensive taxis for those who choose to not own a car.
