Seven miles north of Junquillal beach is Casino Diria which is part of the Hotel Tamarindo Diria.

Open from 4PM-2AM it has just 3 games–blackjack, roulette, and Tute, a form of stud poker.

You’ll also find slot machines with which to try your luck as you enjoy free drinks and snacks.

Nearby you’ll find Flamingo Beach Resort Casino with Poker, Roulette, Blackjack, Tute, Texas Hold ‘Em tables and much more.

Casinos in this area tend to have more gaming tables than machines, are on the small side, and tend to be crowded in the late evening hours.

Don’t worry, though, there are many casinos around such as the Barcelo Play Langosta Resort & Casino and the Paradisus Playa Chonchal & Jazz Casino.

Because so many people travel to the Guanacaste area to vacation and look for homes there are many day tours available to show you all the advantages of the area.

You can tour a snake farm, marvel at a butterfly garden, see beautiful waterfalls, visit and soak in mineral hot springs, and enjoy panoramic views from scenic lookout points.

Most day tours include Transportation, a meal or two, and a guide fluent in English.

If you’re into more adventurous tours you can join a group that spends a day horseback riding, rappelling off canyon walls behind waterfalls, or zip lining and rock climbing on a Canopy Tour.

You’ll find many residents on these day tours as well as tourists.

Surfing is one of Costa Rica’s main attractions for many people due to its many types of waves.

You can find a nearby beach with waves suitable for beginners or seek out more challenging monster waves–all within ten miles of Junquillal!

Of course, since you live on coast, you’ll want to enjoy all the water sports that the area has to offer. You can rent a sailboat or find a secure slip for your own craft.

The warm, gentle winds are perfect for exploring the inlets and islands along the Gold Coast.

You can charter a boat and a guide for sport fishing and catch some truly impressive snook or other game fish to eat or take home as a trophy.

If you prefer to just watch the fish rather than hunt them you can take a boat tour up and down the coast with all the amenities of a fine hotel.

Active people will love living near Guanacaste National Park, a protected area that boasts 140 species of mammals, 100 species of amphibians and over 300 species of birds.

The bio-diversity here insures that there is something for everyone. You can hike the trails to the Orosilito Hill or Orosi Volcano or study the petroglyphs at the Maritza Sector.

If one day isn’t enough, you can stay in the dormitory style accommodations at the Biological Station at Maritza, Cacao, or Pitilla Sectors.

There is so much to see and do in the Guanacaste/ Junquillal area that you’ll never need to be bored unless you want to be!

Within ten miles in any direction you’ll find shopping centers, boutiques, or village shops filled with handmade treasures.

You can spend a day horseback riding, fishing, kayaking, exploring wildlife refuges, hiking, or seeing the countryside by bicycle or ATV.

Living in Junquillal is anything you want it to be but most of all, it’s a never-ending adventure!
